Hello!

Just a quick update and info. for our annual ruck march to end veteran su***de on Saturday, September 16th, 2017. I just want to remind you that the event is completely free of charge and that carrying a loaded backpack along the ruck march route is entirely optional for all participants and it will be a rain or shine event. No need to register, just let me know how many people you are bringing ASAP.

Please cast your net far and wide in regards to outreach these last few days leading up to the ruck march. Tell your co-workers, friends, family, and of course your fellow veterans about this event. We have become the largest veteran ruck march in NYC since its inception and that is due to supporters like you.

We are truly excited to have engaged several new organizations this year and are looking forward to another great event with our veterans and our supporters in the community. We are all here to send a loud and clear message to the American people about ending the veteran su***de epidemic in this nation. Many of us have been personally affected by this scourge and we will do anything to make sure that pain is not felt by another family member, friend, and loved one.

As always, please feel free to send me any questions you may have. I look forward to hanging out with old friends and to meet new ones.

Below is the day’s itinerary:

1PM - Registration Starts at USS Maine Monument at 59th Street and Central Park West (Across from Columbus Circle Shoppes)
1:45PM - Speeches from select attendees
2/2:15PM - PT session with GORUCK operators
2:45/3PM - Step Off on ruck march in the Upper West Side of Manhattan (3.8 - 4.3 miles around Central Park West)
4:30/5PM - 6PM - BBQ with the NYPD at the 20th PCT HQ
6PM - ??? - Bar Crawl at Gin Mill and Jake's Dilemma

Hello Ladies and Gents,

The Ocean Beach Fire Department and the town of Ocean Beach has graciously organized the annual Warrior Appreciation Day for us this year on Friday, August 18th.

This will be the third annual Warrior Appreciation Day that I have personally attended and I must say, it is one of the true highlights of my year. A world class event from start to finish. Round-trip transportation to and from Ocean Beach is provided, color guard presentation and es**rt to the Fire Island Ferry upon arrival at the Ferry terminal, an exclusive OBFD water show on the ferry while enroute to the island, and another color guard presentation and es**rt to the staging area once we land on Ocean Beach.

The entire town comes out to meet and greet us along the es**rt/parade path enroute to the staging area. At the staging area, a giant tent is set up stocked with a wide array of local delicacies, drinks, and a raw bar for your enjoyment.

The Mayor of the town and Police Chief are also on deck to say a few words to the veterans and their families/friends in attendance. Once the short and sweet speeches are completed, the veterans are free to eat, drink, and mingle with the local residents of the town before the formal surf and turf dinner back at the OBFD firehouse. I usually hit up the beach for a quick swim in-between the festivities (Hands down the nicest beach I have been to in the state).

We will depart the city at approximately 2/2:30PM and will get on the transport to return to the city at approximately 10PM. Let me say this ladies and gents, this will be the much-needed mini-vacation you and your families have been wanting to take but just have not had the time to do so. It is easily well worth taking a half-day off work for this event.

I have already gotten several commitments from my personal contacts and we are limiting this event to 60 veterans. All we ask from you for this event is that you honor your commitment to attend and to send me your mobile number as I will be following up personally.
