We wore TEAL on Friday, June 5, 2026, in recognition of PTSD Awareness Month.
PTSD Awareness Month helps bring attention to Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), a mental health condition that can develop after experiencing or witnessing a traumatic event. PTSD may affect veterans, survivors of violence, abuse, accidents, natural disasters, serious illness, community violence, or other deeply distressing experiences.
This month highlights:
• Mental health awareness and education
• The importance of reducing stigma surrounding PTSD
• Access to support, treatment, and community resources
• Compassion and understanding for those affected
• The impact trauma can have on individuals, families, and communities
PTSD can be caused by:
• Physical or emotional abuse
• Military combat or exposure to violence
• Serious accidents or injuries
• Sudden loss of a loved one
• Natural disasters
• Community or domestic violence
• Other traumatic or life-threatening events
Symptoms may include anxiety, flashbacks, nightmares, difficulty sleeping, emotional distress, avoidance, or feeling constantly on edge. Raising awareness encourages open conversations, early support, and access to care for those who may be struggling.
