Wolf spiders look terrifying, then quietly become the reason worse things disappear.

The real detail is this.

They do not sit in fancy webs waiting for dinner. They patrol like tiny night-shift security, using sharp eyesight, speed, and ambush tactics to chase pests through garages, sheds, basements, and dark corners.

Cockroaches, crickets, beetles, mosquitoes, silverfish, and other spiders can all end up on the menu. Even venomous spiders like brown recluses or black widows may be hunted when the size matchup works in the wolf spider’s favor.

And despite the horror-movie legs, they usually want nothing to do with people. Their first move is escape, not attack.

So the spider you feared may be the one keeping the uglier guest list under control.

Not every monster in the corner is the villain.

The United States has reached a historic energy milestone: solar power generated more electricity than coal over a reporting period for the first time ever. Just two decades ago, coal supplied roughly half of the nation's electricity, while solar contributed only a tiny fraction. Today, falling panel costs, improved efficiency, and rapid deployment have dramatically changed the energy landscape.

Utility-scale solar farms, rooftop installations, and battery storage projects have expanded across the country, supported by technological innovation and long-term investment. In many regions, solar is now among the cheapest sources of new electricity generation, making it increasingly competitive with traditional fossil fuels.

Coal remains an important part of the grid, particularly during periods of high demand, but its overall share has steadily declined as aging plants retire and cleaner alternatives expand. Meanwhile, solar paired with energy storage is improving grid reliability by supplying power beyond daylight hours.

The milestone reflects one of the fastest shifts in electricity generation ever witnessed and signals that renewable energy is becoming a central pillar of America's power system rather than a supplementary source.

In 2017, a small Arkansas school district had a problem many schools know too well: not enough money, rising costs, and teachers leaving because salaries were too low.

Batesville School District was facing a roughly **$250,000 budget shortfall** when Superintendent Michael Hester began looking for a different kind of solution. Instead of only cutting programs or asking teachers to do more with less, the district studied where money was quietly being wasted. The answer was energy.

After an audit, Batesville partnered with Entegrity to upgrade lighting, thermostats, HVAC, windows, water fixtures, and install a large solar system. Reports describe more than **1,400 solar panels** at Batesville High School and other facilities, helping cut energy costs dramatically. The savings changed the district’s future.

Within a few years, Batesville turned its financial picture around, with reports saying the district moved from a $250,000 deficit to a **$1.8 million surplus**. Instead of letting all that money disappear into operations, the district used a major part of the savings to raise teacher pay.

Some teachers received raises of up to **$15,000**, helping Batesville become one of the better-paying districts in its area and making it easier to recruit and keep educators. What makes this story powerful is not just the solar panels. It is the choice behind them.

Batesville treated energy savings as an investment in people. The district proved that smarter infrastructure can do more than lower bills, it can keep teachers in classrooms, support students, and give a community more control over its future.

Long before modern medicalization, Black and Indigenous communities relied on our traditional birth workers. We honor this shared legacy of ancestral knowledge and healing, and we are committed to continue advocating for birth equity and reclaiming traditional wellness practices.
