The Somatic Immersion Technique (SIT) Class is being discontinued for now

I woke up to a message from the owner of the Riverwalk Center last Monday, informing me that she had canceled the class and removed it from the center's offerings

Although there was no explanation for the sudden decision, I feel that discontinuing the class, at least temporarily, is the most aligned decision

I am new to teaching this material and am still a student of it. It is important to me that I remain grounded in my offerings and to feel, embody, and become what I teach, which requires me to move slowly

I will likely explore offering SIT, or a class like it, sometime next year

In the meantime, my energy and resources are going into rooting more deeply into the Women's Circle and my 1:1 offerings

If you attended a SIT class, you still have the discount for a 1:1 Grounding Session (more info to come)

And I will post about the next 13-week Women's Circle series within the week

Thank you to everyone who attended the SIT class and to everyone else who shared with me your excitement for it -- I received so much

I hope to see and work with you again soon

What if how we are reading and consuming information is harming our relationships with ourselves and with life?

For most of human history, humans did not read books

We were reading the landscape, listening to the voices of non-human beings, and piecing together the stories of the Earth

When we put so much importance on reading and consuming information through text and media (yes including books)

We are pulling our minds out of relationship with the rest of life

However

The written word has the power to bring us back home to ourselves and to the Earth

Humans are wired to learn through story

And there are many stories that help rewire our brains to come back into intimacy with the sensuous present and our living kin

And that is why I created the First Light Library

It is a curation of hundreds of texts that help facilitate such return and remembrance

There are about a dozen lists pieced together with love and with different kinds of intentions

Including what I call the Coherence Collection, a simple and accessible place to start

In the darkest of nights

During the cold nights of winter when the sun has long before it rises again

When we are abandoned by the world

And there is nothing left outside us to save us

We are gifted with an opportunity

One to stop seeking for whom or what will fix our lives

And surrender

And in that surrender, we find something inside ourselves

A potent wildness where a light lives

And we learn that light will live as long as we do

Because it is us

And no darkness could take that light away

I wrote this poem a year and a half ago, at the beginning of a deep journey into lots of fear

& I wanted to share it here
