Nature's Pace

Nature's Pace Nature's Pace is for kids to explore wooded trails with the freedom to climb trees, build forts, smell wildflowers, and PLAY Welcome to the new Nature’s Pace!

Though no one could possibly fill Christine’s shoes, I’m so excited to see this program continue! A little about me: I grew up in Andover with woods in my backyard. My childhood best friend and I would spend hours exploring and making forts. I moved to North Andover in 2008. I have always had a passion for teaching and have been doing so for the past 19 years. Starting my career in Haverhill out

of college, I then transferred to Boxford where I teach 5th grade for the past 11 years. Before having my own kids, Logan & Dylan, I spent summers helping run a summer rec program in Groveland. Working with kids has always been on the forefront of my career. Thank you for following and I can’t wait to continue this fantastic program!

I had the pleasure of taking this wonderful group of second graders, with their Girl Scout Brownie Troop from Reading, on a hiking adventure today. We got caught in torrential rain, but that didn’t stop them. They very much enjoyed making fairy houses and experimenting with different things that float trying to make boats. We also saw some lady slippers! We didn’t get to do some of the fun things due to the rain however we still had a blast!🌿🌧️

Last day of spring session with this group! We did a rainbow walk (surprisingly found each color!), tried swinging on vines, and explored the water’s edge. Getting outside even when a bit rainy still makes for a great adventure. 🌧️ 🌈

This was a fun new location- the trail around Carter Fields and Carter Hill. We looked for the Great Blue Heron at a heron rookery with a cool viewing platform. We didn’t see any but saw another interesting bird nesting. We tried looking it up based on its markings - maybe a Swallow-tailed Kite? 🤷🏼‍♀️. Then these kiddos used those little legs to go up Carter Hill which was much steeper than we expected 🥵 Such a fun afternoon ☀️🌿

Building, crafting, and conquering Weir Hill! Oddly enough, we kept finding eggs- we think they were put there as they definitely looked like chicken eggs 🤔 Never a dull moment!

☀️Building forts and making nature sun catchers was the goal today. We spent almost the entire time building and climbing (and falling) then ended up at the top of Weir Hill!
