🎉 Happy 50th Birthday, Hilkie! 🎉

Join us in wishing a very special Happiest of Birthdays to Hillel (aka Hilkie), one of our amazing ETTA Group Home residents!

We had a great time celebrating his milestone 50th birthday. The room was filled with so much love, endless dancing, fun photo ops, and some truly delish cake! It was incredibly special to have all of his family and friends gathered together to honor him.

Mark, his long-time friend and roommate, paid tribute to Hilkie and truly said it best:
“He’s a well and caring friend, and I’m so lucky that he’s in my life.”

We couldn't agree more, Mark! Hilkie brings so much joy and warmth to our ETTA family.

Please join us in wishing Hilkie a happy birthday in the comments below! 👇🎈✨

Day Program artists rolled up their sleeves for a sweet, flaky, and very edible art project: crafting tiny cinnamon-sugar pastries from layers of shredded phyllo dough (aka kataifi), puff pastry, melted butter, and cinnamon sugar. Talk about a masterpiece you can eat!

Along the way, our bakers learned the differences between the two doughs: puff pastry does exactly what it promises and puffs up in the oven, while phyllo stays nice and crisp. Using melted butter, pastry brushes, and nuts for extra crunch, they layered on the creativity.

While their creations baked to golden perfection, everyone enjoyed a fresh fruit salad and sampled premade cups. The final treats were picture-perfect and ready to take home!

Nothing pairs better with homemade hummus than fresh-baked pita!

Our Day Programmers, supported by our incredible staff, recently stepped into the roles of sous chefs to whip up a delicious snack. Led by our Executive Chef and Director of Volunteers and Special Programs, Leah, everyone got hands-on in the kitchen!

From taking turns at the food processor to blend the perfect hummus, to crafting doughy discs for the pita and chopping fresh veggies, it was a true team effort. The results? A super fresh and tasty treat to share with friends!

We’ve got the beat! 🥁

During a recent music therapy session, community members from our Valley and City Day Programs came together to get their grooves on! The room was alive with energy as everyone took turns following the teacher’s lead, using both hands and drumsticks to bang out the beats on the bongos.

It was wonderful to watch the group share instruments and collaborate to keep the drum circle moving. Great playing, everyone!
