Restorative Oakland

Restorative Oakland This is for all of the restorative justice practitioners, healers and people who are working towards creating community in Oakland and at large.

How do we create a Beloved Oakland? Dr. King had a dream where all felt loved and their dignity was upheld regardless of race, class, sexual orientation, gender, and ability. Through restorative justice we focus on power of relationships; how we create them, mend them and keep them healthy.

Intentions for Restorative Justice Week 2016 are:
- Hold space for collective community wisdom
- Call in

love and connection - give it, receive it, be it
- Speak truth to power
- Healing and well-being
- Story-telling

Tomorrow!

Peacemaking: Handling Bullying and Conflict With Restorative Practices, hosted by Soul Shoppe

Location: The Oakland Peace Center (111 Fairmount Ave, Oakland, CA 94611)
Audience: local residents, RJ Practitioners, Educators, Parents. Suitable for children 5 and up and adults of all ages!
Capacity: unlimited
Type of Event: Community Building/training/self-care
Wheelchair Accessible? Yes

Join us as we talk about the roots of bullying and demonstrate the restorative power of the Peace Path. Take home a concrete set of skills you can use with your kids, your students, your family and anyone in your life. The most important step in handling conflict is knowing what to say to really heal the harm and help people feel better for now and in the future. This event is for people wanting to interrupt and prevent bullying, and solve conflicts from their roots at your school or work sites and in your homes. We encourage parents to come with their kids, teachers and educators, and people of all walks of life who want to create peace - it starts with US! If it is warm, we will be outdoors in the Church parking lot, if it is cold/wet/etc. we will be indoors!
