Our Pastries with Parents event was all about celebrating the incredible parents and caregivers we have the privilege of working with every day.

Behind every milestone, every new skill, and every success story is a caregiver who shows up with patience, love, advocacy, and dedication.

Thank you for trusting us to be part of your family’s journey. We are grateful for the opportunity to support not only your children, but also the amazing people who care for them!

One of the biggest misconceptions we see is that children should be potty trained by a certain age. In reality, successful potty training depends on a combination of developmental, communication, motor, and self-help skills.

From both an ABA and child development perspective, focusing on readiness skills first often leads to a smoother and more positive potty training experience.

Every child develops at their own pace. If you’re navigating potty training challenges, our team can help identify barriers, build readiness skills, and create a plan tailored to your child’s needs. Contact us to learn more about our services!

Did you know that SLPs don’t usually start by teaching words like please, more, and thank you?

Instead, we focus first on words and sounds that are meaningful, motivating, and easy to use during everyday interactions, like exclamatory words, animal sounds, the names of family members, and action words!

Our goal is to help your child learn that communication is powerful! If you’re concerned about your child’s communication skills, contact us to schedule a speech and language evaluation!

Ever feel like your toddler won’t sit still long enough to read a book? We get it!

Story time with toddlers doesn’t always look the way we expect it to and that’s ok! As SLPs, we’re less concerned about finishing the story and more focused on creating opportunities for communication. Sometimes, that means reading every word. Other times, it means talking about the same picture for 5 minutes because that’s what captured your child’s attention.

Reading together helps build vocabulary, social interaction, shared attention, and early literacy skills, but it doesn’t have to be perfect to be effective!

If you’ve ever raised your voice, negotiated “just this once,” or offered a snack during a tantrum, you’re not alone!

Parenting doesn’t come with a manual and most of us are doing the best we can in the middle of a difficult moment. Some responses may unintentionally make tantrums more likely to happen again, but that doesn’t mean you’ve done anything wrong. It simply means there may be strategies that work better!

Save this post for later, and if tantrums, transitions, or big emotions are making daily routines difficult, our ABA team is here to help!

Summer is filled with of exciting changes, but for young children, even positive changes can feel overwhelming.

When school, daycare, therapy schedules, or daily routine shift, you may notice more tantrums, clinginess, whining, sleep challenges, or changes in eating habits.

These behaviors aren’t always don’t that something is wrong! Often, they’re signs that your child is adjusting to a new sense of normal. A little extra predictability, connection, and patience can go a long way in supporting your child during this transition!

If you need additional support with transitions, communication, or emotional regulation, our team is here to help! Let’s connect about strategies that can make this summer more successful!

If you feel like you’re saying the same direction 10 times a day, you’re not alone and you’re not doing anything wrong!

What often happens is that repeated language may become background noise for your toddler. The more we repeat a direction without changing how we deliver it, the less meaningful it can become in the moment. Your child isn’t ignoring you. Their attention, processing, and regulation skills are still developing.

Listening is not just about compliance. It is a skill that develops through connection and repeated experiences. If this is something you’re seeing often at home, our ABA therapy team can help support your child in building stronger communication and listening skills.

Flashcards aren’t necessarily “bad,” but language development is much more than simple memorization. From an SLP perspective, children learn to communicate best through real interactions, play, routines, and experiences with the people around them.

Your child may be able to label the pictures on a card, but struggle to use those same words functionally in everyday life. Flashcards can absolutely be a part of learning, but they work best when paired with real-world experiences.

If you have questions about your child’s speech or language development, our team is here to support you! Reach out to speak with a member of our team!
