💙 Staying independent starts with feeling safe at home.

Some days remind me exactly why I love what I do. 💙

Recently, I had the privilege of helping a family understand the next steps in accessing VA care benefits for a loved one and shared practical guidance for navigating dementia care. We talked through their questions, concerns, and where to begin.

By the end of our conversation, they told me how much relief they felt. They even asked how they could pay me for my time.

My answer? “There’s no charge. This is what I’m here for.”

The hugs and gratitude that followed meant so much to me. When a family feels overwhelmed, having someone listen, explain the options, and help them take that next step can make all the difference. Being that person is one of the most meaningful parts of my work.

We received this note from an RN on one of the home health and hospice teams we work alongside. Her words say so much about what compassionate care looks like: being there for a client and making sure their family feels supported, too.

Home health and hospice teams provide skilled medical care. At Cornerstone Caregiving, our caregivers provide non-medical support in between visits, help with daily routines, companionship, and a reassuring presence when families need an extra set of hands. I love when those teams can work together to surround a family with full-circle care.

Two years ago, I said yes to an opportunity with Cornerstone Caregiving that felt a little crazy. I didn’t have a healthcare background, and I couldn’t have imagined where that yes would take me.

This journey has been hard, really hard at times, but it has also been one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever done. Every day, we have the chance to make a difference in someone’s life. I’m grateful for the families who trust us, the people I’ve met along the way, and the friends who have become like sisters to me. Gratitude doesn’t even begin to cover it. 💙🩵

This past week, I have had the privilege of attending C3 Summit, our annual directors conference. This was a chance to step away, remember why I started, and connect with people who care as deeply about this work as I do. I’m coming home with fresh ideas to strengthen our office, serve our community even better, and reach more families who need us. I can't even begin to express the gratitude I have to work for a company that invests in their people the way that Cornerstone Caregiving does...

One of the most moving parts of the week was hearing from John O’Leary, author of Soul on Fire. If you haven’t seen the movie or read his book, I encourage you to watch it. I cried through the movie, and I cried through his speech all the same. His reminder that our lives are a priceless, precious gift hit especially close to home.

I’m also deeply grateful to work for a company that lives out its Christian faith. During our banquet, Davis took time to share the good news of salvation through Jesus Christ. That meant more to me than I can put into words. Moments like that remind me why I believe God placed me here, with this company, doing this work, and it's a big driver in my commitment to put my best foot forward each and every day.

Thank you, Cornerstone Caregiving, for this gift and for an incredible conference. I can’t wait to see where God takes this journey next, and I’m already looking forward to being with these lovely humans again at C3 Summit 2027 in Miami, FL next year! ✨
