Each ingredient in our Pine Salve is chosen with purpose—in consideration of its healing qualities, environmental sustainability, and historical use. I'd like to share the foundation of our salve: Grapeseed Oil.

Why Grapeseed Oil?
Derived from grape seeds as a winemaking byproduct, Grapeseed Oil presents a low carbon footprint and environmentally friendly option. It's light, richly moisturizing, and full of antioxidants, vitamins, and natural skin-healing qualities.

Benefits of Grapeseed Oil

Skin Health – Rich in vitamin E and omega fatty acids, it soothes dryness, supports collagen production, and absorbs without clogging pores.
Sustainability – Low-waste, eco-friendly ingredient, it upcycles what would otherwise be waste in winemaking.
Historical Use – Used for centuries in herbal remedies, Grapeseed Oil has been valued for centuries for its skin-protecting and restoring properties.

How It Complements Our Pine Salve

It acts as the carrier, blending pine resin, juniper berry, ashwagandha root, beeswax, and conifer essential oils together.

It enables absorption, so that the salve absorbs fully without a greasy residue.
It enhances the healing qualities of pine resin and plant extracts, making it ideal for dry skin, cuts, and inflammation.

At Basin and Range Botanicals, nature and tradition are paired with intentional formulation. Grapeseed Oil isn't just the base of our healing salve—it's an essential part of a remedy that heals, protects, and is aligned with sustainable principles.

My initial offering is a pine salve. Pine salve has traditionally been used as a drawing salve to help remove impurities, splinters and help in healing boils and abscesses.

The pine resin in this salve is naturally antiseptic and antibacterial. The volatile compounds also make it great for sore muscles or a chest rub for congestion.
The carrier oil used in this salve is grapeseed oil. It's naturally rich in omega fatty acids and vitamin e. It's also a natural anti-inflammatory. This can help provide relief in our dry, high altitude conditions.
This salve also contains ashwaganda and juniper berries. This combination provides an additional soothing effect on the skin and can help with stress and acne.
