Menu Allergenie, LLC

Menu Allergenie, LLC Menu Allergenie is a software program that helps restaurants cater to customers with food allergies or sensitivities.

Founded by a nutritionist and mother of a child with a soy allergy, Menu Allergenie makes eating out with food allergies simpler. Restaurants enter their menus, inputting common food allergies and information about the surfaces the food is cooked on. Customers then simply select their food allergies and Menu Allergenie immediately displays a menu that should be safe for them.

Check out this well-written article that gives a brief history of the gluten “epidemic” in the US, and also discusses the possible harm that comes from people saying they have a food allergy, when in fact they only don’t like an ingredient. The chef cards designed below are meant to be used by people with a food allergy. If you have a food preference, by all means communicate this to the chef, but realize that if you call it a food allergy a restaurant SHOULD undergo a time-consuming process to ensure there is not cross-contact. Please don't say you have an allergy and then "cheat".

A few weeks ago, Menu Allergenie joined the California Restaurant Association. The first event that I've been invited to is a golf tournament. The only golf I have ever played is "putt-putt". According to Wikipedia, depending on where you come from, you might know this as: "miniature golf, mini-golf, midget golf, goofy golf, shorties, extreme golf, crazy golf, adventure golf, mini-putt, putter golf and so on." Either way - I'm not sure my putt putt skills will help me on a real course!

Digital Ordering in Restaurants is on the Rise

Have you eaten at a restaurant with digital ordering? What about ordered food online? I’m guessing the answer is “yes”. Every day, more and more restaurants are embracing technology.

Here at Menu Allergenie, we hope that restaurants will embrace technology to help serve customers with food allergies/restrictions.

This blog gives a quick read about the benefits and rise of digital ordering at restaurants: http://smartblogs.com/food-and-beverage/2015/09/25/cook-for-me-the-case-for-digital-ordering-at-casual-dining-restaurants/?utm_source=brief

***FREE Food Allergy Chef Cards***

To order cards, simply send me an e-mail at [email protected] and include the following information:

1. Your full name
2. Mailing address
3. Number of cards you would like (to ensure we have enough for everyone, we can only mail 25 at a time)
4. Where you heard about these free cards

As part of your comprehensive plan to eat out safely, these cards should be given to the restaurant manager or chef. Unlike other chef cards, please LEAVE THESE CARDS AT THE RESTAURANT EVERY TIME YOU EAT OUT. The louder your voice, the more likely restaurants are to identify common allergens on their menus.
