As of October 1, CMS increased hospice payment rates by 2.3%. Hospices that do not meet required quality reporting requirements face a four-percentage-point reduction, which results in a 1.7% decrease from FY 2026 rates.
For operations teams, that makes accurate reporting and consistent follow-up even more important.
A few things worth reviewing now:
โข Check CMSโs September 24 training on HOPE data submission and iQIES provider reports.
โข Review iQIES reports for submission issues, errors, and missing data.
โข Confirm your billing team is using the FY 2027 rates and the new $36,174.75 aggregate cap.
These are the kinds of administrative workflows where a trained Virtual Medical Assistant can help keep reports, follow-ups, documentation, and submission tasks organized.
Militante (must be tagged), a former hospice administrator, breaks down the FY 2027 changes and what hospice leaders should be watching in our latest blog.
