There are some people who cross your path at the right time and help you see your vision more clearly. For me, Julie Gordon White has been one of those people.

We connected during the COVID era, at a time when I was continuing the transition of my practice and deepening my work in women’s hormone health and healthy aging. Long before menopause became part of the mainstream conversation, we were having real discussions about the women 40+ who felt like their body was changing, their energy shifting, and their symptoms were being overlooked.

I’m grateful for how she encouraged me to trust the value I could bring to this space and continue building with purpose.

Today, it’s an honor to join the Meno:Lounge Monthly Series to continue these conversations around menopause, mitochondria, hormones, energy, and the importance of understanding that women’s health is never one-size-fits-all.

Because true care is not just about treatment.
It’s about understanding the terrain, the foundation, and creating personalized strategies that bridge modern medicine with holistic wellness.

Thrive Table Talks with Dr LaReesa is this Wednesday, May 20th!
There comes a moment in the year when you pause and ask yourself:
“Is this actually working for me?”

So many women start the year strong.
Then life speeds up. Expectations increase. Sleep shifts. Energy drops. And somewhere along the way, “fine” becomes the standard.

But here’s the truth:
Just because something is common does not mean it’s normal. Feeling exhausted, disconnected from your body, struggling with sleep, stress, weight changes, or hormonal shifts should not be something women simply learn to tolerate.

This is your invitation to reset.
Join LaReesa Ferdinand, MD for an intimate fireside chat:
The Season of Me: A Woman’s New Year

Reserve your spot: https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/o-58hfi5TEmk3Bm4fT4i6A #/registration

Together, we’ll explore:
• Why you may be feeling “off”
• The connection between hormones, stress, sleep, and weight
• What may be driving the changes happening in your body
• What it can actually look like to feel like yourself again

Because your health is not just about getting through the day.
It’s about feeling supported in your body, your mind, and your life.
This season, don’t settle for “fine.”
This is your season. Join me!

A friend gave me this mug . As I had sips of tea today, it quietly reminded me how much stands behind that one word.

Years of study.
Long nights.
Sacrifice.
Faith in a calling to serve others.

But the title itself is not what matters most.

What matters is the responsibility that comes with it.

The responsibility to listen when a woman says something in her body feels off.
To look deeper when symptoms are dismissed as “just stress,” “just aging,” or “just menopause.”
To connect the signals and help women understand what their bodies are trying to say.

Medicine should never be rushed care.

It should be thoughtful, attentive, and rooted in respect for the person sitting in front of you.

On Doctor’s Day, I’m grateful for the opportunity to do this work and for the women who trust me with their health.

Some reminders are simple, but meaningful.

Miss. Ms. Mrs… Dr. actually.

✨ The Final 3 Hallmarks of Aging for Women, and Wrapping It All Together ✨

As we close out this series, these last three hallmarks explain why aging can feel messy, overlapping, and hard to pinpoint — but never random.

• Chronic Inflammation (Inflammaging)
Low-grade inflammation quietly accelerates aging, showing up as puffiness, stiffness, fatigue, and pain. It’s not “just getting older” — it’s a signal your body needs calming and support.

• Splicing Dysregulation
When cells send mixed messages, symptoms stop making sense. Strange, overlapping issues are often a communication problem at the cellular level — not separate failures.

• Altered Mechanical Properties
Collagen, fascia, and connective tissue stiffen with time. Skin loses elasticity. Joints tighten. Resilience drops — unless we actively protect and support the body’s structure.

✨ The takeaway from all 14 hallmarks?
Aging is a system, not a single symptom. And systems can be assessed, guided, and supported with the right strategy.

Day 11 Hallmarks of Aging for Women
Gut, Skin & Immunity

If your digestion is off, your skin is flaring, or your immunity feels weaker — your gut is speaking.

As we age, the microbiome can lose balance, especially during the holidays when sugar, stress, and disrupted routines pile up. When “good bacteria” get crowded out, inflammation rises and everything feels off.

Picture a holiday table filled with only cookies and rolls — no balance, no harmony. Your gut needs variety to thrive.

Healing doesn’t start with restriction.
It starts with understanding what your body needs right now.

Day 10: Hallmarks of Aging for Women🎄

Feeling bloated, heavy, or sluggish lately — even when you’re “not eating that bad”?

That’s often your body’s cleanup system slowing down.

With age, our cells lose efficiency at clearing waste — a process called autophagy. When cleanup stalls, toxins and debris build up, leaving you tired, inflamed, and uncomfortable.

It’s like forgetting to take out the trash after a big holiday meal — things get heavy fast.

This isn’t about dieting harder.
It’s about restoring your body’s ability to reset and renew.

Communication Breakdown in our Hallmarks of Aging for Women

Ever notice how anxiety and mood swings spike during the holidays — even when life looks “fine” on the outside?

That’s not weakness.
It’s biology.

As we age, the body’s internal communication system can start misfiring — hormones, immune signals, and the nervous system stop talking clearly to each other. When that happens, anxiety, overwhelm, and emotional isolation show up fast.

Think of it like a chaotic family group text where no one knows what’s happening — your body feels the same confusion.

If your mood feels unpredictable lately, it’s a sign your system needs support, not more pushing.
