POV: you’ve had questions about IV therapy but were too shy to ask… So I answered them for you. No judgment here; just an RN who’s heard it all (and still loves brunch talk more than anything).

Concierge nurses, check your saline inventory before your next appointment.

Baxter has voluntarily recalled two specific lots of 500 mL 0.9% Sodium Chloride Injection because of the potential presence of particulate matter identified as fiberglass.

Affected lots: Y495523 and Y495523A
Product code: 2B1323Q
Expiration: October 31, 2027

This does not mean all Baxter saline—or all normal saline—has been recalled. If you have either affected lot, stop using it, separate it from usable inventory, follow your practice’s recall process, and contact your supplier or Baxter for return instructions.

Even if you inspect every bag before use, checking the lot number is essential because particulate matter may not always be easily visible.

Information verified through the FDA recall announcement.

Your nervous system is constantly responding to the way you live. Stress, poor sleep, lack of movement, and an unbalanced routine can all affect how your body feels and functions. The good news? Small, consistent habits can help create meaningful support. 🌿

Mindfulness, deep breathing, morning light, daily movement, and nourishing foods aren’t just “wellness trends”—they can become simple ways to support relaxation, sleep, mood, and overall balance.

Your nervous system doesn’t need perfection. It needs care, consistency, and moments that remind your body it’s safe to slow down. 🤍

Have you ever wondered what actually happens inside your body when you receive an IV compared with taking an oral supplement?

An IV infusion enters a vein and immediately joins your circulating blood. From the arm, it travels to the right side of the heart, moves through the lungs, returns to the left side of the heart, and is then pumped into systemic circulation for distribution throughout the body.

Because the contents of the IV are delivered directly into the bloodstream, IV administration is considered 100% bioavailable. This means the full administered amount reaches circulation. It does not mean your body will use, retain, or benefit from 100% of it.

Oral supplements take a different route. After being swallowed, they pass through the stomach and are absorbed primarily through the small intestine. The amount that reaches circulation can vary based on the supplement, its formulation, food intake, digestive health, and interactions with other substances.

Once something reaches your bloodstream, your body still has to distribute, use, store, metabolize, or eliminate it. Those processes depend on the specific substance, the dose, and the individual.

That is why faster or more complete delivery does not automatically mean greater benefit. Every IV should begin with a proper clinical assessment to determine whether it is appropriate for that person.

Did you know the routes were this different?
