Six months from now, I don’t want to wish I had started today. I want to look back and know I kept the promise I made to myself.

I spent way too many years waiting.

Waiting for the right time.
Waiting until I had more money.
Waiting until I felt ready.
Waiting for life to finally begin.

Not anymore.

I’m getting on the plane. Seeing the places. Trying the things. Making the memories.

Turns out, I was the one I was waiting for. ✈️💜

PLEASE SHARE THIS. People need to know what has happened to my dad at Aurora Health & Rehab in Rolla, Missouri.

My dad has been dealing with some very serious health issues and has been hospitalized for almost two months.

He was originally hospitalized at Phelps County Regional Hospital. From there, he was hospitalized at the Harry S. Truman VA Hospital in Columbia, Missouri. He was then transferred to Aurora Health & Rehab in Rolla, Missouri.

Within TWO WEEKS of being at Aurora, my dad was neglected to the point that he developed pressure ulcers that went ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE BONE.

My dad then had to be sent back to Phelps County Regional Hospital, where he had to have SURGERY on those wounds.

While my dad was still hospitalized at Phelps County recovering from surgery, last Wednesday I went to Aurora to pick up his belongings, including his phone, wallet and clothes.

When I got there, they didn’t know where his belongings were.

The only things I found in his room were a few items on his bed, including a crossword puzzle, some instant coffee and his CPAP machine.

His clothes were GONE.

When I asked where his clothing was, they were extremely rude to me and questioned whether I had actually looked for it and whether I had checked the wardrobe and drawers.

TWICE I had to explain that I had already checked those places and they were EMPTY.

My dad had no clothes.

And these weren’t just a couple of old outfits. These were brand-new clothes that had been purchased for him.

They eventually located his phone and wallet. I went back to Phelps County and made sure my dad had both of them. I was told someone would contact me about his missing clothes.

No one ever did.

Unfortunately, after my dad’s surgery, Phelps County couldn’t find a bed at a different facility in time for his release from the hospital.

So YESTERDAY, my dad had to be transferred BACK TO AURORA.

And now we get to TODAY.

Within ONE DAY of my dad being back at Aurora, he was informed that his brand-new scooter chair had been STOLEN.

This isn’t some random scooter.

This is an approximately $10,000 BRAND-NEW SCOOTER provided by the VA and specifically designed for my dad and his size.

It was left OUTSIDE IN AN UNSECURED AREA and was stolen.

When I tried to get on the phone with the facility about what happened, there was immediately a problem.

They are trying to act like they are not responsible for my dad’s scooter being stolen.

I completely disagree.

His approximately $10,000 custom scooter was in their care, was left outside unsecured, and now it is gone.

And this is just the latest problem I have had with this facility.

For weeks, I have called them every single day.

I’ve left voicemails that were ignored.

I’ve had phone calls not returned.

I’ve been hung up on.

I’ve dealt with incredibly rude and unprofessional behavior and snide comments.

I’ve been told one thing while my dad was told something completely different.

They didn’t even seem to understand that I was my dad’s DPA until I called them out on it, despite the fact that I had been communicating with them and trying to advocate for him for weeks.

So let’s put all of this together.

My dad developed pressure ulcers at this facility that went TO THE BONE and required SURGERY.

His brand-new clothes disappeared.

And now, within ONE DAY OF RETURNING, his approximately $10,000 BRAND-NEW CUSTOM VA SCOOTER was left outside unsecured and stolen.

And there is one more thing I personally witnessed while I was at this facility that I will never forget.

There was a resident walking up and down the hallways who they called William.

He had f***s all over his behind.

And the entire facility smelled like urine.

This is where vulnerable people are supposed to be receiving CARE.

My dad is one of those people.

He is a veteran.

He is someone’s father, grandfather and loved one.

And what has happened to him is absolutely unacceptable.

I’m telling his story because people deserve to know what has happened.

I did not leave corporate America because I had everything figured out.

I left because I wanted options that belonged to me.

Now I’m building in real time.
