It’s late Tuesday night back in Minnesota, and after logging 18 hours on the road from Utah, my body is recovering from the drive, but my heart is completely bursting.
Have you ever had a moment where the universe didn’t just whisper to you, but spoke loudly?
Tonight, I was at Aldi and noticed a man at the register whose card kept flashing fraud. You could feel the immediate spike of stress in the air, the tight shoulders, the frantic phone call, the overwhelming weight of a sudden, frustrating obstacle. He had just gotten back from vacation, and his bank had locked him out due to out-of-state activity.
We have all been there. We all know what that sudden surge of cortisol and panic feels like in the body.
In that moment, I felt a deep, undeniable pull to step in. I asked if I could pay for his groceries. Even though to be completely honest I can not afford to do so right now….He resisted at first, as we so often do when we are trapped in stress mode, but I insisted, telling him how much joy it would bring me and simply asked him to pass it on down the road. The relief that washed over him was palpable. Watching that was everything as I swiped my card!!
As I got into my car and turned the key, for KING & COUNTRY’s song World on Fire started pumping through the speakers. If you know the song, you know the beat is incredible, but the lyrics hit me straight in the soul tonight.
Every single morning, I set my intentions. I choose my frequency. My mission with The Renewal Lab, and in my own life, is to be a force that disrupts the chaos and brings things back into alignment. Sometimes that work is quiet, subtle, and internal. But tonight? I got to watch love and kindness burn right through someone else’s high-stress moment.
We cannot always control the heavy things happening in the world, but we can choose the micro-moments. We can be the circuit breakers for stress, panic, and isolation.

Yesterday, I shared how a room full of high school friends reminded me of the profound somatic medicine of a deep, nervous-system-melting hug. It’s what drove my daughter Ruby and me to jump into the car for an 18-hour trek to Utah, chasing those very hugs to celebrate my childhood best friends’ family.
But how do you survive and stay regulated during an 18-hour drive? You pivot to another form of medicine: Music. While we love a good round of I Spy, 21 Questions, or hunting for license plates, our absolute, hands-down favorite survival strategy is Car Karaoke. We are talking full-blast instrumental tracks Or regular music, singing at the top of our lungs, and seat-dancing like nobody’s watching!
It turns out, this isn’t just a fun way to pass the miles, it is genuine, evidence-based medicine. Active music-making has an incredible power to shift our mood, relieve the physical strain of travel, and keep us deeply connected.

Why does it often take a funeral to remind us of what truly matters? Last night, I found myself sitting in a room filled with old high school friends, celebrating the life of one of my favorite childhood moms. It was a night wrapped in love, shared tears, deep reflection, and catching up in an old hangout spot, sharing all the great memories we had together. It left me sitting in the absolute importance of hugs and human connection. I’ve been so intentional to share them because hugs are literal medicine, in fact, one of my previous New Year’s resolutions was to give at least 8 hugs a day!
This morning, that reflection is driving my next move. My daughter and I are jumping in the car for a road trip to Utah to see my childhood best friends. They are twins, and their family has been my family since birth we literally took baths together as babies and were together every single day. Distance has kept us apart since they moved from Minnesota, but when we come together, no time has passed at all. It’s the very first of our kids to graduate high school, and I felt so called to make the drive to get those hugs, congratulate them, and tell them how much they mean to me. Don’t wait for a tragedy to hold your people tight. Make intentional time for them regardless of distance. Go give someone a real, nervous-system-melting hug today!

Your body knows the truth before your mind can catch up.
Tonight’s sunset hits different after a day of intentional slowing. While the original plan was a State Park mystery cave tour adventure, the nervous system called for something else, grounding into the sanctuary we’re building right here.
Today’s Somatic Reset looked like..
5 loads of laundry (the rhythm of the mundane)
Building a wooden shipping crate into a future herb garden
Choosing the things in between over the pressure of a to-do list
In somatic healing, we learn that productivity isn’t about the hustle; it’s about the environment we curate. Clearing physical space to make room for mental clarity. Turning something raw, like a wooden crate, into a source of life.
Alignment over obligation. Every. Single. Time.
The table is being prepared. The LLC is finalized. The Renewal Lab is officially opening doors for initial consultations and intake calls.
If you’re ready to stop settling for mixed signals and start finding your own footing through true nervous system regulation, my DMs are open.
✨ P.S. Still seeking the perfect sanctuary space in Maple Grove, Medina, Wayzata, or Edina. If you know a local clinic looking for an Integrative Health Coach, let’s connect.
