🧭September 7, 2026 — The Beginning of a New Season
Today is my last, first day of grad school, and the beginning of my fellowship journey. I know I am stepping into a new season. When I think about the next 365 days, one word keeps coming to mind: intense.
I’m anticipating a lot of shifting. I’m anticipating days when I’ll be exhausted, days that will challenge me, and days filled with so much joy. I’m anticipating achievements, change, growth, and some chapters finally coming to a close. But more than anything, I’m anticipating God to move.
I’m going into this season with my eyes wide open. I know this journey will require me to prepare mentally, physically, spiritually, emotionally, and even environmentally. I know I’m going to need discipline. I’m going to need clarity. I’m going to need the right people around me. And most importantly, I’m going to need God.
I don’t even know exactly what to pray for because I don’t know everything these next 365 days will bring. So maybe my prayer is simply: 🙏🏿✨️✨️✨️God, walk this journey with me. Keep me close to You. When I’m tired, strengthen me. When I’m confused, give me clarity. When I accomplish something, keep me humble. When things shift, help me trust You. And when I start trying to do things my way, redirect me back to Yours.✨️✨️✨️
Looking at this reflection today...who I think I am, who strangers may think I am, who the people closest to me probably see, and the real me on the inside...it actually lines up pretty closely. Somebody else may see me differently, and that’s okay. But for me, this is a marker. This is where I am on September 7, 2026...nervous but excited and grateful.
A year from now, I want to look back and see growth...not just degrees, accomplishments, certificates, or things checked off a list. I want to see that I changed spiritually, mentally, physically, and emotionally. I want to see greater discipline and clarity. I want to recognize the woman God was developing while I was busy walking through the journey.
I’m especially anticipating what God is going to do with my purpose and my heart for people with different abilities. I’ve already been doing this work, but I believe there is another level to it. And this time, I don't want to do it simply because I know how to do it. I want to do it the way God wants me to do it. His way, not mine. Because I’m already seeing that the way He is putting things together is so much better than anything I could have planned for myself or the community.
So today, I’m not asking to know everything that is coming. I’m simply thanking God for allowing me to arrive at this moment.
Thank You, God, for today. Thank You for September 7th. Thank You for the beginning. Thank You for what I can see, and thank You for what You haven't revealed yet.
Here’s to the next 365 days.
Eyes wide open. Heart surrendered. Faith forward.
Grounded. Guided. Grace-filled. Growing. God-led BIG.
And when I come back to this reflection a year from now, I pray I can say:
Look what God did. 🌱
