When patients hear that Dr. Pryor no longer places breast implants, one of the first questions we get is, “Then what can I do for volume and shape?”

The answer is that beautiful breast restoration does not have to mean another implant.

For women who want more fullness, fat transfer uses your own fat to naturally restore volume and contour. For women with loose skin, sagging, or changes in breast position, a mastopexy, or breast lift, can reshape and elevate the existing breast tissue. And when appropriate, Dr. Pryor can combine a lift with fat transfer during the same surgery to address both shape and volume.

This is also an option for women who have already explanted elsewhere. Maybe you chose explant alone and, after healing, realized you have more loose skin than you expected. Maybe your original surgeon did not offer fat transfer at the time of your explant. You are not necessarily stuck with that result. Once you are appropriately healed, we can evaluate whether a secondary lift, fat transfer, or a combination of both may help you achieve the shape you were hoping for.

EXPLANT + FAT TRANSFER: ONE SURGERY, ONE RECOVERY 🤍

One thing that makes Dr. Landon Pryor’s explant approach unique is his experience performing fat transfer at the same time as breast explant surgery when a patient is an appropriate candidate.

Many of our explant patients ask about fat transfer because after removing their implants, they still want to maintain some natural shape and volume without putting another implant back into their body.

Instead of automatically planning another surgery months later, Dr. Pryor can often harvest a patient’s own fat through liposuction, carefully process it, and strategically transfer it to the breasts during the same operation.

For many women, that means one surgical plan, one recovery period, and the opportunity to restore natural volume using their own tissue.

Fat transfer can also be combined with a mastopexy when a lift is needed, while other patients may be candidates for explant and fat transfer without a lift. Every body is different, which is why the surgical plan is customized based on anatomy, available donor fat, skin quality, existing breast tissue, and the patient’s goals.

Not every patient will be a candidate for fat transfer, and no surgeon can guarantee exactly how much transferred fat will survive long term. Some patients may still choose or require additional fat grafting later. But for appropriate candidates, combining these procedures can be an incredible option for creating a softer, natural result after explant.
