The Dementia Journey Companion 25+ years experience in Alzheimer's and Dementia care. A trained companion who supports individuals and families through every stage of memory loss.

We provide personalized support, guidance, and strategies that honor each person’s history, abilities, and dignity helping families and communities navigate the memory loss journey with clarity, compassion, and confidence. I blend clinical understanding with deep respect for each person’s life story, strengths, and preferences. Some roles include assessing needs, creating personalized engagement p

lans, coaching care partners, and helping teams adapt environments and routines to promote comfort, safety, and dignity. My ultimate goal is to translate complex information into clear, compassionate guidance so families feel informed rather than overwhelmed. I am a great advocate for meaningful moments, preserving identity, and ensuring that care remains centered on the whole person—not just the diagnosis.

Forgetting a name and remembering it an hour later is not the same as forgetting it happened at all.

That is the distinction Michelle King, CDP, of The Dementia Journey Companion draws in her latest article on normal aging versus dementia, and it is worth knowing before the question comes up in a client meeting.

Normal aging: misplacing keys, pausing on a word, needing a little more time to balance the checkbook. The person notices the lapse and works around it.

Dementia: repeating the same question minutes apart, getting lost somewhere familiar, losing the ability to manage bills or a recipe that used to be second nature. The person often does not notice, or gets defensive when a family member does.

One point worth sitting with: memory loss is not automatically Alzheimer's. Vitamin deficiencies, thyroid imbalances, medication side effects, and even sleep apnea can mimic dementia symptoms and are treatable once identified.

Michelle is part of the vetted specialist network inside the bQuest platform, ready the moment a client's family needs this kind of clarity instead of a guessing game. Read her article and connect with her on bQuest:
