Honey. The perfect food. In it's raw, unfiltered form. This honey actually has a story, and I became overwhelmed with gratitude while harvesting it today. You see, I was separated from my hives a couple of years ago, and when they were returned to me several months later, I found thousands upon thousands of dead bees bodies inside. I was devastated. Kevin and Richie helped me clean them up, and we stored them in our basement for a full year until I was ready to get my Apiary going again. During that first clean up process, there were a few frames that were very heavy with capped honey. All I could do at the time was stack those frames separately, and protect them for a while until I got stuff straight. Today, we set up our electric bee fence, and I got those frames from storage to clean up because in two weeks we pickup two new nucs of bees from a farm in Lancaster. Once I began scraping the honey from the frames, I felt so blessed for the work those bees 🐝 did to pollinate crops and blossoms 🌸 to create balance in our ecosystem, and provide us with not only the food we grow, but this perfect food they produce during their process. Raw, local, and especially unfiltered honey is not only delicious, it is medicine. I enjoyed pointing out to Kevin the black specks of propolis and byproduct of the bees work that aid our own health. And watching him use, appreciate, and enjoy what I harvested today only made me more excited about us picking up our new nucs. Life is good.
