This day last year, my 3rd offspring was born. It was my 2nd unassisted homebirth after cesarean. The birth was the most intense birth I’ve had, but this birth pool was my saving grace. I loved everything about birthing this baby. He was born into the most calm atmosphere into the arms of his loving parents.

Trust in my lord and believing in my body is what got me here twice. Even after being labeled high risk because of lupus and kidney disease. And even after being told my pelvic was too small to birth vaginally.
Well, I did it anyway!

I remember feeling so broken after having an alleged “failure to descend” during the birth of my first child that led to a csection. The doctor told me that my pelvic was too narrow to ever give birth vaginally. My next 2 children I gave birth vaginally right in the comforts of my home, no problem.

Thinking back, one of the doctors kept talking about preparing for her daughters birthday party while the nurse kept talking About what she was going to order for lunch.
Neither one of them “had the time” for me to labor. I have many friends and colleagues in the medical field who can attest to my story and said it’s a textbook classic of getting through a birth quickly.

It’s so important to learn about birth! Don’t let them make you their statistic! Know better so you can do better!
