Special thanks to Dr. Sarah Friend, CEO of Meadowview Behavioral Hospital, Christina Gerlach-Mooney, Director of Assessment and Referral at Meadowview Behavioral Hospital and their leadership team for attending tonight’s City Council meeting honoring their work and “Supporting Every Mental Health Journey”
The proclamation read:
WHEREAS, the City of Peoria recognizes that mental health is an essential component of overall health and well-being, and every individual deserves access to compassionate, evidence-based behavioral healthcare delivered with dignity, respect, and hope; and
WHEREAS, individuals experiencing mental health challenges are more than their diagnosis or moment of crisis, and recovery is a personal journey made possible through understanding, support, clinical excellence, and meaningful community connections; and
WHEREAS, we appreciate providers who serve as trusted resources for individuals and families by providing a safe, healing environment that empowers people to move from crisis toward stability, resilience, recovery, and renewed purpose; and
WHEREAS, reducing stigma, promoting awareness, fostering education, and encouraging open conversations about mental health strengthens our community and ensures that no one has to face their journey alone; and
WHEREAS, dedicated physicians, nurses, therapists, social workers, behavioral health technicians, and support staff demonstrate each day an unwavering commitment to delivering compassionate, patient-centered care while advocating for the health, safety, and recovery of every patient;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Rita Ali, Mayor of the City of Peoria, Illinois, do hereby recognize Meadowview Behavioral Hospital and other providers in our community for
