Let's toast to YOU, your babies, your families, and your amazing milk 🎉💗🤱🏽 for Indigenous Milk Medicine Collective with something special this week - an Indigy Milk Mocktail! Indigenous milk medicine week is absolutely about the incredible first sacred food that our bodies make for babies, but also so much more. As the brilliant Camie Jae Goldhammer Camie Goldhammer says in Indigenous Lactation Counselor training - lactation is a promise. When we commit to breast/chest feeding, we're committing to show up for our babies responsively. This is a promise many of our previous generations did not have the ability to make. But they prayed for us and dreamed of us, and they kept the sparks alive for us. So this is for all indaanikoobijigan - our ancestors and our descendants. This is a toast to all the prayers and dreams that have brought us together today as we stoke the flames of . Also, it's a celebration of the good life we're creating for the next generations through the way we parent and feed them, from the first latch to creating healthy, wholesome rituals with them. Our community has struggled with alcohol/substance use since contact, but that's not who we are - it's something that was put onto to us. We can celebrate all day every day with heartberries, baby giggles, and the fires of yesterday and tomorrow. Also, yes - I'll be sharing the full recipe for a delicious, herbal l, lactogenic, electrolyte boosting mocktail shortly!
