Who you allow into your birth space matters!

Doulas cannot guarantee birth outcomes, no one can.

However, research shows that working with a doula reduces the likelihood of a c-section.

Some c-sections are absolutely medically indicated. But based on our high c-section rates, we know that many are not medically necessary.

A meta-analysis published in the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology stated:

"Pregnant patients supported by doulas services are 68% less likely to undergo CD than those receiving standard prenatal care, more likely to have IAVD, and have no difference in epidural rates. Additional research is needed to elucidate the impact of doula services on neonatal outcomes. Nonetheless, doula support services represent a promising intervention to decrease the high rates of caesarean section in the United States."

A 68% reduced risk of c-section is absolutely statistically significant. It means compared to those without doula support, they are less likely to have a c-section (some will still have medically necessary ones or even opt for elective).

When a c-section does occur even with doula support, many parents report having a better understanding of why it became necessary AND feel more like they were active participants in the decision-making process.

Life can be stressful. So what do you remind yourself with to get back to a place of peace? What is the thing that calms you and gets you focused again?

Especially when you’re coming into the unknown of pregnancy, labor, and postpartum, what brings you peace?

My family and I are on vacation right now and one of my peaceful places has always been on the beach when there aren’t many people around, listening to patterned waves crash, and the seagulls distant call; feeling the cool sand between my toes and a gentle breeze that lightly caresses my skin. There is nothing like it for me. I grew up doing this and I marvel still in it today. This is peace.

When we arrive at these places of overwhelm, where do we go? What do we dwell on? Whom do we seek? Knowing what brings you peace before the overwhelm even begins to creep in, can change your entire experience.

So ask yourself, what brings me peace and how can I practice resting in this peace? Hashem has an answer for you.

That’s why I would rather do life with you face to face!

Being a parent looking to learn, find support, or find your village isn't easy.

There's always been some challenges but getting negative feedback used to be from your neighbor Sally and your second cousin Lisa.

Today? You can get negative feedback from hundreds, thousands, even millions.

Rather than parents coming together to learn and support each other, sometimes social media is nothing more than proving a point or being "right" and putting others down.

We're not talking legitimate safety, such as car seats. Though even those discussions could be respectful.

Sometimes the only thing we can do as new moms is take a break from social media. Get in nature. And remember, everyone births and parents in their own way and that is OKAY.

šŸ‘‡šŸ½ Do you ever feel stressed by constant negativity online?
