Monday Night Recaps!

Last week, Kathy and Janet were honored to row in the Sam I Am. While most of our WCR members have never had the chance to meet Sam personally, her presence is felt throughout our program, and we are grateful for everything she did to bring WCR to Philadelphia. Her vision and dedication created opportunities that continue to make a difference today.
Thank you, Sam. ♥️

Last night, our newbies continued to shine, gaining confidence and building skills with every outing. A special shoutout as well to the members who have stepped up to take on bow seat responsibilities - your willingness to learn and lead helps make every row a success. Another great night on the water with teamwork, progress, and plenty of smiles!

A hot, sticky night on the water - and our newbies nailed their first time in an 8+! 🔥

Odezza, Elizabeth and Ines took out singles, while our Henley crew was hard at work in the 4+. Great effort all around despite the heat and humidity! 💪

Thanks to coaches Margie and Marsha for their help and guidance and to Thuy for the great pictures!

Whitemarsh survivors are at Stotesbury Regatta, raising awareness for survivor rowing and funds to help send boats to the very first Survivor Racing event at Henley Masters. Stop by to answer our hourly polls (Port or Starboard? Sweep or Scull? What’s your stroke rate today?, etc.), grab complimentary snacks and drinks (and sunscreen!), and chat with our survivors. Donations and signal boosting welcome!

Shoutout to our friends at Radnor Boys Crew Club! 💙

RBCC has been a proud supporter of our Pink the Boathouse and fundraising efforts since 2024. You might recognize their jerseys at HOSR, featuring a pink “1/8” on the back - a powerful nod to the 1 in 8 women who will experience breast cancer in their lifetime.

After finishing the Manny Flick series as the top public school crew, they’re ready to chase speed down the Schuylkill this weekend at the PSRA City Championships.

Good luck, RBCC - we’ll be cheering you on!

Monday Night Recaps | 4/13 & 4/20

The last two weeks kicked off our 2026 season, and what a great start it’s been!

On 4/13, returning members worked with Coach Marsha while newcomers joined Coach Margie for an introduction to the erg, oar handling, learning different parts of the boat and bringing a boat to the dock.

Last week, we headed to the Shipley indoor tanks where Lindsay led instruction on squaring and feathering, working through drills to assist our newcomers when they get out on the water, providing them with their first taste of the sport.

Here’s to tomorrow night when we all get on the water together!

San Diego Classic – March 28

WCR was proud to have two members participate in the Survivor Classic on March 28. The event featured two 8+ boats and a mixed quad, bringing together an inspiring group of survivors. Great to have Bonnie along for support!

As in the previous year, we were fortunate to have boats generously lent to us by ZLAC, the oldest women’s boathouse in the world - we are so grateful for their continued support!

We had a great practice row on Friday, taking the boats out to the race venue and getting a feel for the conditions. Saturday greeted us with temperatures in the low 70s and some choppy water - classic Mission Bay! It made for a fun and memorable race, especially being out there together with such an incredible group of survivors. As last year, we were honored to have Susan Francia (gold medalist 2008, 2012) presented us with our medals!

Afterward, we rowed back to ZLAC, though the quad had a bit of an adventure with the choppy conditions having to make a stop at the beach to empty out the water before finishing the trip!

This one is in the books! Til next year!

Wednesday night Weight / strength session

WeCanGetStronger! another tough session at The Barn, featuring everyone’s nemesis, the Bodyweight Row. Sounds like John continues different ways to challenge us. 😀

John vs Emily selfies - both great! 😊
