Some people count miles. We count the people we meet along the way.

The miles on the car don’t matter when you’re doing work that matters.

This summer, our Philly crew hit the road to New York City - from Midtown to Flatbush and the Caribbean Market - not just to visit places, but to build relationships with people who care.

That’s what this next chapter is all about.

We’re expanding the circle with chefs, historians, storytellers, creatives, and community leaders - including new collaborations with the James Hemings Society - as we build bridges between Food is Therapy and Food is History.

We believe healing happens around the table. History is preserved through the recipes we share. And lasting change starts when neighbors care enough to create something together.

If we’re going to strengthen our communities, we need more than good ideas. We need people who care.

If our mission speaks to you, we’d love to meet you. Tell us about a chef, a community leader, a venue, a neighborhood organization, or a creative who should be part of this movement. We’d love to collaborate!

Later this month, we’ll be announcing our first Food is Therapy community event series and activations. We can’t wait to share what’s been growing behind the scenes.

Here’s to putting miles on the car for something bigger than ourselves - and to caring through food, one story, one table, and one community at a time. ❤️

Some people don’t just cook—they answer a calling.

While visiting the Flatbush Caribbean Market in Brooklyn, we had the pleasure of meeting Isra Gordon of .

As a Metabolic & Holistic Health Coach, Chef, and Functional Health Practitioner, Isra believes that the ingredients matter—and being in mint condition matters too. Through years of study, research, and a genuine passion for helping others, she’s created an alkaline, plant-based menu designed to nourish from the inside out. 🔬🌿

We sampled some of her delicious drinks and, before long, found ourselves talking about digestive health, daily habits, and how often we push through discomfort instead of listening to what our bodies are telling us.

It was a reminder that Food is Therapy. Every meal is an opportunity to care for ourselves, fuel our bodies, and be more intentional about our health.

Thank you, Isra, for sharing your knowledge, your heart, and your passion for wellness. We can’t wait to share more stories from this incredible community of entrepreneurs.

💬 What does “Food is Therapy” mean to you?
Or tell us: What’s one food that always makes your body feel good? We’d love to hear your story.

Food is Therapy. Food is Medicine. 🌿🥕

What happens when we slow down, reconnect with nature, and let food become part of our healing?

During our visit to Brooklyn, we had the privilege of spending time with Chef Nadia of Market Life (Nadia Ketoure - Mother- Health coach - Qigong group leader- cook), whose passion reminds us that the ingredients we choose nourish so much more than our bodies. Every meal is an opportunity to care for ourselves, our families, and our communities.

Healing doesn’t always begin in a doctor’s office. Sometimes it begins in a kitchen, with fresh herbs, colorful vegetables, meaningful conversations, and the intention to care.

This is why we created Food Is Therapy. To explore the people, stories, and practices that remind us food has the power to connect, restore, and transform.

A special thank you to our creative collaborator, , for helping bring these stories to life through powerful visual storytelling. Together, we’re capturing the people, places, and conversations that inspire healthier communities.

We’re now planning our Fall 2026 filming schedule. If you’re a chef, farmer, artisan, wellness practitioner, food entrepreneur, nonprofit, or community organization with a story worth sharing, we’d love to connect.

We’re looking to feature:
✨ Commercial and commissary kitchens
✨ Farms and food producers
✨ Restaurants and culinary innovators
✨ Event spaces and community gathering places
✨ Organizations using food to create positive change

If you’d like to collaborate or host a future Food Is Therapy filming experience, send us a DM or email us. Let’s tell stories that nourish our communities, together.

✨ Community is the answer. Food is the conversation. Healing is the journey.

Flavor brings people together. ✨

Sometimes one bite starts a whole conversation - about memories, culture, creativity, and the stories behind the food we love.

While filming inside The Mangrove at Flatbush Central Caribbean Market, Chef Keesha O’Galdez of Live Loud Foods shared her bold flavored pistachios with us.

Eric from iLovett Films captured the official taste test 🎥… and let’s just say those orange candied pistachios didn’t stand a chance. Empty bag. No crumbs. No nuts left. 😂

That’s the power of food - it creates connection.

What’s a flavor or seasoning that instantly takes you back to a memory?

You don’t always have to travel far to find inspiration. Sometimes a new food journey is waiting right next door. ✨

NYC is our neighbor, filled with markets, makers, cultures, and flavors that invite us to explore.

For me, a market is one of the best places to reconnect with food. Walk the aisles. Pick up ingredients. See what’s in season. Discover something you’ve never tasted before.

Every spice, recipe, and ingredient carries a story, of a person, a family, a culture, an identity.

Food reminds us where we come from and opens the door to understanding where others have been.

This is why we believe Food is Therapy. It’s curiosity. It’s connection. It’s community.

Our food journey took us to NYC, not so far from home, but filled with new stories waiting to be discovered. 🧡

Keep walking. Keep tasting. Keep exploring.

Today reminded us that healing isn’t always about finding a quick fix.

We had the opportunity to experience Qigong, a practice centered on breath, movement, and awareness. It was a beautiful reminder that taking care of ourselves means slowing down long enough to listen. Sometimes the emotions we carry don’t begin today, they come from somewhere deeper. Practice gives us the opportunity to notice, reflect, and better understand ourselves.

As humans, we experience a wide range of emotions that often go unspoken. Creating space to move, breathe, cook, connect, and be in community can be the beginning of something meaningful.

Community may not solve everything, but it reminds us that we don’t have to grow alone.

While visiting Flatbush Central Caribbean Market (Flatbush Central Caribbean Marketplace), we also had the pleasure of meeting Nadia Ketoure. As a health coach, she creates intentional, zero-waste vegan food designed to nourish both body and mind. Her passion for mindful eating and wellness is inspiring, and we’re excited to learn more from her journey.

Give Nadia and her “Market Life” insight a follow and support the incredible work she’s doing towards food, health and healing ❤️‍🩹.

We’re always curious to learn something new. How about you?

One of our favorite moments filming moments was stepping inside The Mangrove, the commercial commissary kitchen at Flatbush Central Caribbean Market in Brooklyn.

We had the opportunity to meet Keesha O’Galdez, Chef, Owner & Founder of Live Loud Foods (Live Loud Foods | NYC'S Favorite Nuts). Her products can be found in Grand Central Station, The Goods Mart in Williamsburg, and online.

Of course, we had to do a taste test! 🎥

Eric from iLovett Films (iLovett Films) tried her orange candied pistachios, and let’s just say…the review was easy. By the time we finished filming, the bag was completely empty—not a single pistachio left! 😂

Beautiful branding, eye-catching packaging, and a flavor that absolutely delivers. It’s inspiring to meet entrepreneurs who are building businesses rooted in quality, creativity, and passion.

These are exactly the kinds of stories we’re excited to capture as we continue filming for the PHL Creative Arts Legacy Project, the James Hemings Cookbook, and our Food Is Therapy initiative.

Stay tuned—there’s so much more to come from Brooklyn! 🌴🥜🎬

Brooklyn, here we come! 🚗🎥

Today our cookbook project team is heading to Flatbush Central to begin filming for something we’ve been dreaming about for a long time.

This is the first step in bringing the James Hemings Cookbook & Educational Travel Initiative to life - capturing stories, preserving culinary history, and building partnerships that will create opportunities for future generations. Documenting our journey because where the origins of American cuisine came from is important.

Every great project starts with a road trip.
Stay tuned...Food is Therapy…celebrating 250!
