A new month is here—and this September, we’re turning our attention inward.

Throughout the month, we’ll be talking about imposter syndrome and negative thoughts—those quiet voices that make us question whether we’re good enough, capable enough, experienced enough, or deserving of the spaces we’ve worked hard to enter.

Here’s your first reminder for September: not every thought deserves to be believed.

Self-doubt may show up, but it doesn’t get to define you. You can acknowledge the fear, challenge the inner critic, and still move forward. You can feel uncertain and still be capable. You can be learning and still belong in the room.

This month, let’s practice speaking to ourselves with a little more curiosity, compassion, and truth. Here’s to quieting the inner critic, trusting what we bring to the table, and remembering that we don’t have to feel completely confident to keep showing up.

Welcome, September. 💛

What’s one negative thought you’re ready to challenge this month?

August, you reminded us that growth doesn’t have to look perfect to count.

This month, we talked about perfectionism, building healthier habits, and learning that meaningful change rarely happens all at once. Sometimes progress looks like consistency. Sometimes it looks like starting over. And sometimes, it’s simply choosing to try again without judging yourself for where you are.

As we close out August, take a moment to notice the small wins you might have overlooked. The boundaries you practiced. The habits you started. The expectations you released. The moments you chose progress over perfection.

You don’t need a perfect routine or a perfect version of yourself to keep moving forward. 💛

So, goodbye August—and thank you for the lessons. Here’s to carrying what served us into September and leaving a little more room for grace, intention, and growth. 🌱

What’s one habit, lesson, or mindset you’re taking with you into September?

✨ Happy Women’s Equality Day! ✨

Today, we honor the women who challenged barriers, raised their voices, and helped create pathways toward greater equality.

But equality is more than having a seat at the table. It’s also having the freedom to speak, the safety to be yourself, and the opportunity to care for your wellbeing without having to carry everything alone.

At Be True Counseling, we believe your voice matters. Your wellbeing matters. You matter. 💜

Today, take a moment to honor the women who paved the way—and consider how you can continue creating space for women to be heard, supported, and empowered in your own community.

What if healing wasn't only about looking forward, but also about remembering where we come from?

I'm honored to be part of HERE AND NOW: Voices of Emancipation – Underground Railroad Theatre, an immersive experience that brings the stories of Germantown's Underground Railroad to life through powerful storytelling, music, and performance.

At Be True Counseling, we believe that healing is deeply connected to history, community, and the stories we carry in our bodies and across generations. This experience is an invitation to reflect on resilience, freedom, and the roots that continue to shape who we are today.

If you're in the Philadelphia area, I'd love for you to join us as we gather to remember, reflect, and honor those whose courage still echoes through history.

How was your Fourth of July weekend? ❤️🤍💙

Whether your weekend was filled with fireworks, family cookouts, quiet moments of rest, or simply making it through the day, we hope you found a little space to breathe.

Last week, we shared a simple reminder: protecting your peace is one of the most powerful declarations you can make.

The celebrations may be over, but the invitation remains the same. As we move into a new week, take a moment to check in with yourself.

Not everything deserves your attention, and not every battle belongs to you. Your greatest impact often comes from investing your time and energy where you have the most control, influence, and capacity to create meaningful change.

This week, choose peace without guilt. Choose rest without apology. Choose the people, habits, and moments that help you show up as your authentic self.

Today, we honor Emancipation Day. 🤍

Freedom is more than a moment in history—it is a journey that continues through every generation.

As we reflect on Emancipation Day, we honor the courage, resilience, and hope of those who fought for liberation while recognizing that healing also means creating spaces where every person feels seen, valued, and safe to be their authentic self.

Freedom can look different for each of us. It may be setting healthy boundaries, finding your voice, embracing your identity, asking for help, or choosing healing one step at a time.

At Be True Counseling & Consulting, we believe that honoring our collective history helps us build more compassionate communities today. May we continue the work of cultivating belonging, equity, and care—for ourselves and for one another.

What does freedom mean to you today?

Now that we've welcomed a new month, here's your gentle reminder: you don't have to rush into it.

Take a deep breath. Pause before filling every moment with deadlines, expectations, or pressure to "catch up."

This month, give yourself permission to move with intention. Celebrate your progress, protect your peace, and remember that healing doesn't happen overnight—it happens through the small choices you make every day.

Wherever you're starting this July, let it be from a place of self-compassion rather than self-criticism. One mindful moment at a time is still moving forward. 🌿

Here's to a month of growth, grace, and choosing yourself—again and again.
