Congratulations to AzNA's immediate past president, Dr. Heidi Sanborn (far left), for being elected to the ANA Board of Directors as Secretary! 🎉

Dr. Sanborn spent 8 dedicated years to serving Arizona nurses on the AzNA Board - first as Vice President and then as President. We are confident she will continue to be a impactful voice of nurses in her new national role!

The Arizona Nurses Association (AzNA) applauds the passage of HB2408, sponsored by State Representative Julie Willoughby (R-LD13). This legislation advances patient safety while ensuring nurses are afforded fair and timely treatment throughout the complaint investigation process.

“HB2408 is the result of thoughtful advocacy by nurses across Arizona who recognized that protecting patients and ensuring due process for nurses are not competing priorities. We are proud of the advocacy of AzNA members and Arizona’s nurses that contributed to the passage of this legislation and the advancement of the nursing profession,” says AzNA President, Sherrie Palmieri.

The provisions of the new law will take effect on September 12, 2026.

Meet Ellyn Comegys, RN, BSN, MS! ✨

Ellyn has been a nurse for over 40 years and a member of AzNA for about 2 years! She currently works at Sonora Outpatient Mental Health Clinic and owns her own business, Wellness Weavers, where she provides Art Therapy workshops and women's groups.

Her favorite part of being a nurse is listening to what a patient needs and providing that for them. What see likes the most about being a member of AzNA is the opportunity to be a facilitator for Tucson Chapter 2's peer support group, Nurses Nurturing Nurses.
