Most people see the finished hire.

They rarely see the conversations, the follow ups, the encouragement, the problem solving, or the moments that help someone take the next step into a career they may have never considered before.

In correctional health care, recruiting is about more than filling positions. It is about finding people who are ready to step into environments that require compassion, adaptability, professionalism, and a commitment to delivering quality care every single day.

For , we asked a few of our recruiters to share what they love most about what they do and the moments that make their work meaningful.

Thank you to the recruiters across Wexford Health who continue helping connect talented health care professionals with careers that make a real impact inside correctional health care.

Every year represents something different.

For some, this is their first year working in correctional health care and learning what makes this environment unlike any other. For others, it reflects decades of experience, growth, and commitment to the work happening inside our facilities every day.

This May, we are recognizing Wexford Health team members celebrating work anniversaries ranging from 1 year to 23 years.

In a field that depends on consistency, teamwork, and people willing to keep showing up, that kind of dedication matters. The experience built over time helps strengthen teams, support patients, and shape the culture across our sites.

No matter the number of years, each person plays a role in the work being done every day. We are grateful for the professionalism, reliability, and care our teams continue to bring to correctional health care. Thank you for being part of Wexford Health and for the impact you continue to make. 👏 🎉

A large part of correctional health care involves identifying needs that may have gone unaddressed for years until the patient enters the facility, and vision care is often one of them.

For many patients, routine eye exams and consistent vision treatment may not have been easily accessible prior to incarceration. Inside correctional settings, providers are able to evaluate concerns, monitor changes over time, and help patients manage vision related conditions that can impact daily functioning, safety, and overall health.

At Mt. Olive Correctional Facility in West Virginia, vision services are part of the larger effort to provide comprehensive patient care within a structured and secure environment. It is detailed work that requires clinical focus, precision, and consistency behind the scenes.

During , we are recognizing the importance of vision care in correctional health care and the professionals who continue to provide these services in environments where every aspect of patient care matters.

Correctional nursing requires the ability to stay focused in a setting that is constantly moving.

Inside Mt. Olive Correctional Facility, nurses are responsible for keeping care on track while balancing patient needs, communication between teams, and the responsibilities that come with working in a secure setting. Before patients are even seen, there is already preparation happening behind the scenes to keep the day organized.

Throughout Nurses Month, we are proud to spotlight the nurses at Mt. Olive Correctional Facility and recognize the professionalism and commitment they bring to correctional health care every day.

This week, Wexford Health will be in Wisconsin Dells for the Correctional Leaders Association Midwest Region Meeting, joining correctional professionals and industry leaders from across the region as they come together to discuss the realities, challenges, and future of corrections.

As health care continues to play a larger role in correctional operations, these conversations matter. They create space to share perspectives, strengthen partnerships, and better understand what facilities and teams need most moving forward.

Looking forward to connecting with leaders across the industry throughout the week.

Mental health care inside correctional settings is complex, demanding, and deeply important work. Every day, mental health professionals are called to navigate crisis, build trust, support rehabilitation, and help patients work through challenges that often began long before incarceration.

At Wexford Health, we are proud of the professionals who bring empathy, accountability, and leadership into correctional health care every day while helping create safer, healthier environments for both patients and staff.

The role of a nurse inside a correctional facility comes with a different level of responsibility. Every day requires the ability to think clearly under pressure, adapt quickly, and provide care in an environment where no two shifts are ever the same.

At the Mt. Olive Correctional Facility, our nurses care for patients with a wide range of medical and behavioral health needs while working within a secure setting where communication, awareness, and teamwork are essential. The work is not always seen by those outside the facility, but the impact is felt every day.

What makes this work possible is the team behind it. Nurses rely on each other throughout every shift, supporting one another through challenges, sharing knowledge and experience, and continuing to show up with professionalism and compassion in an environment that demands both.

Throughout Nurses Month, we are recognizing the nurses at Mt. Olive Correctional Facility and taking a closer look at the work, dedication, and resilience that define correctional nursing.

Recovery is built on consistency, and in structured clinical settings, that consistency often starts with steady behavioral health support.

At Western New Mexico Correctional Facility North and South, that support is delivered every day by clinicians who understand the importance of stability, follow through, and patient centered care in complex environments.
