Modern culture teaches you to rely on yourself.

More hustle.
More courses.
More business gurus.
More strategies.

And yes — effort matters.

But none of it means anything unless Allah opens the door.

The Qur’an says:
“My success is only through Allah.”

That changes everything.

Because when something in your life stops working…

the first place you return to
is not panic.

It’s prayer.

On-time salah.
Tahajjud.
Dhikr.

Not because Muslims avoid effort—

but because we understand where success actually comes from.

The dunya teaches self-reliance.

Islam teaches reliance upon Allah.

And there is a difference.

One of the most blessed foods mentioned in the Qur’an…

is slowly disappearing from modern diets.

Olive oil.

Meanwhile, ultra-processed foods filled with industrial oils are now everywhere: restaurants, sauces, snacks, packaged foods—even foods marketed as “healthy.”

The Qur’an describes the olive tree as blessed.

And for centuries, traditional cultures used olive oil as a staple long before modern processed foods existed.

This isn’t about fear.

It’s about awareness.

Reading labels.
Returning to simplicity.
Choosing foods closer to how Allah created them.

Because modern culture profits when people stop paying attention to what they consume.

And health often begins the moment you start paying attention again.

New York traffic.
Long days.
Busy schedule.

But even in the middle of it all…

the Qur’an comes with me.

Not perfectly.
Not fluently.
Not effortlessly.

Struggling. Repeating. Starting over.

Again and again.

And maybe that’s the point.

Because this life was never meant to be easy.

Allah created this dunya as a test — not a place of comfort.

The discipline to return to the Qur’an every day…
even when it’s difficult…

is the same discipline that builds you in every part of life.

Patience.
Consistency.
Focus.
Humility.

The Prophet ﷺ said: “The one who recites the Qur’an and struggles with it will have double the reward.”

So if you’re struggling…

don’t quit.

Maybe the struggle itself
is exactly what Allah is using to elevate you.

The closer you live to how Allah created things…

the better your body tends to function.

Modern culture teaches excess.

More sugar.
More chemicals.
More stimulation.
More artificial everything.

But so many of the things Allah placed in this earth were already filled with benefit.

Even something as simple as coffee.

Clean.
Powerful.
Intentional.

Energy. Focus. Antioxidants.
Natural compounds that support the body instead of overwhelming it.

The Qur’an reminds us: “Eat and drink—but do not be excessive.”

Maybe health isn’t always about finding the newest thing.

Maybe it’s about returning to simplicity.

Returning to fitrah.

And learning to appreciate what Allah already created for us.

Being a White Muslim in New York City…

Noise.
Movement.
Endless distraction.

Everywhere you look—something pulling your attention.
Your time. Your focus. Your heart.

And if you’re not careful…
you can get lost in it.

But the truth is—

You’re never alone in this life.

Allah ﷻ is always near.

Even in the middle of the chaos.
Even when your mind is everywhere.
Even when you feel disconnected.

Allah says:
“I am near. I respond to the one who calls upon Me.”

So no matter how loud life gets…
you can always return.

One moment.
One prayer.
One sincere du’a.

And everything real comes back into focus.

Why is a white American reciting Qur'an in NEW YORK CITY??

Ifyou knew what Islam was, what the Quran is.... you would too.

I still struggle to read the Qur’an.

Not fluent.
Not perfect.
Still learning.

And for a long time… I thought that meant I was behind.

But the Prophet ﷺ said:

The one who struggles with the Qur’an —
gets double the reward.

So what I used to see as weakness…
Allah sees as effort.

And that changes everything.

Because that struggle?

It’s not just about reading.

It’s training you.

Discipline.
Patience.
Consistency.

The same qualities you need in your life, your work, your purpose.

This dunya was never meant to be easy.

It was meant to build you.

So if you’re struggling with Qur’an…
don’t walk away.

Lean into it.

Because maybe that difficulty
is exactly what Allah is using
to bring you closer to Him.

If you’re running to catch the prayer…

You might already be missing the point.

The Prophet ﷺ told us:

“Walk to the prayer with calmness and dignity — and do not rush.”

But look at how we show up sometimes.

Out of breath.
Distracted.
Mentally still in the dunya.

Salah isn’t just about making it on time.

It’s about how you arrive.

Calm.
Present.
Focused.

Because you’re not just showing up to a place…

You’re standing in front of Allah.

So next time you’re late —
Don’t run.

Walk.

And bring your heart with you.
