Eight years ago, Liver Education Advocates (formerly NASH kNOWledge) began with one man’s experience, one family’s determination and a vision to make sure other patients did not feel dismissed, confused or alone.
Our founder, Tony Villiotti (along with his wife and caregiver Betsy Villiotti), took what he endured through his own liver disease and transplant journey and turned it into a mission to help those coming after him. He believed patients deserved better education, earlier intervention, meaningful support and a voice…and he never stopped pushing for it.
Today, that vision has grown beyond what we could have imagined. LEA is reaching patients, families and communities across the country and around the world through education, advocacy, screenings, support programs and partnerships. Every conversation, every resource shared and every person reached carries a piece of Tony’s heart and purpose forward. 🫶
This anniversary feels especially meaningful and bittersweet as it’s our first without him. We miss his passion, wisdom, determination and larger-than-life yet such humble presence every single day. But we also feel the responsibility and privilege of continuing what he started.
Eight years of impact. Eight years of hope. Eight years of building something that is changing and saving lives. Eight years of serving others for a purpose greater than ourselves.
Tony, your vision became a movement. Your legacy lives on, and our mission continues.
Happy 8th anniversary, LEA. 🎉👏
