Operation Walk Pittsburgh Operation Walk Pittsburgh provides free hip and knee replacement surgeries to those in need.

Operation Walk Pittsburgh is a volunteer organization dedicated to providing the gift of mobility to patients in need across Central America. Each mission trip involves a team of surgeons, nurses and other personnel who provide joint replacements and arthritis and joint health education completely free of cost. Operation Walk Pittsburgh works side by side with local surgeons, nurses and therapists to share knowledge, expertise and encourage a true cultural and medical exchange. Since the inaugural trip to Antigua, Guatemala in 2009, Operation Walk Pittsburgh has assembled a volunteer team of surgeons, nurses, support staff and advocates to transform the lives of those in need in countries throughout Central America. These trips offer more than just life-changing surgeries, they are opportunities for cultural exchange and international medical cooperation.. Our Mission: Operation Walk Pittsburgh aims to provide life changing education, service and surgery completely free of cost, to patients in need in Pittsburgh and around the world.

💙 The impact of Operation Walk Pittsburgh goes beyond the operating room! 🌎

During Mission 2026, Sean, a member of our travel team who works in Central Sterile, donated school supplies and provided breakfast for children in Guatemala. With the help of a friend, he was able to deliver the supplies, spend time with the kids, and play games with them. 🎒🍎

Robbie, who works in Anesthesia, also donated sunglasses for the children, adding another special touch to the day. 🕶️☀️

These moments remind us that our mission is about more than providing medical care. It’s about building connections, spreading kindness, and making a difference in the communities we serve. ❤️

For the first time, we brought our Community Outreach 4-Point Screening Program to Guatemala. The response was incredible and far exceeded our expectations.

We provided 394 screenings for Obras staff and our Guatemalan friends and family! 🤩🦴
