🌳🐴 Growing friendships at the barn! 💙

Our Teamwork at the Barn Workshop was all about learning how to work together, support one another and build friendships alongside our horses.

One of our favorite activities was creating our Friendship Tree! Each participant added their handprint to the tree and made promises to be kind, help each other, make good choices, listen, try their best and have fun together. ✋🌳

It was a beautiful reminder that teamwork starts with how we treat and support one another!

🤠 Our final workshop of the season is coming up! Join us for Wild Wild West on September 26 for an afternoon of horses, Western-themed activities, and fun!

🤠🐴 Saddle up for a Wild Wild West adventure! 🐴🤠

Grab your boots and join Making Strides Foundation for our Wild Wild West Workshop, where little cowboys and cowgirls will learn big skills alongside our incredible horses!

Participants will enjoy:

🤠 Lasso Toss Challenge (or ring toss for younger wranglers!)
🌽 Exploring an Old West sensory bin
🌵 Creating a western-themed craft to take home

Along the way, participants will:

✨ Strengthen depth perception and hand-eye coordination
✨ Explore sensory experiences through imaginative play
✨ Build fine motor skills and creativity
✨ Grow confidence while learning in a fun, inclusive environment

Our inclusive workshops are designed for children of all abilities and provide opportunities to learn, play, and grow through equine-assisted experiences. There's always an adventure waiting at the barn!

📚🎒 A new school year is underway! 🐴

As student and teachers head back to the classroom, we’re wishing all of our clients a great start to the school year! We hope it’s filled with new things to learn, new friends and lots of reasons to smile. 💙

While our clients are on a short break, we’re keeping busy at the barn! 🏗️🐴 We’ll begin work on our new covered arena project, which includes excavation, moving tons of dirt, adding sand and reworking some fencing to create a new outdoor arena. We’re excited that this space should be ready for use during our Fall Semester!

We’ll also be sealing and painting the parking lot during the break. Lots of exciting changes are happening around the barn and we can’t wait to share them with you!

Our herd is enjoying their break and will be back the week of September 6th. We’ll see you soon! 🐴💙

Last Chance!

There's only a few more days left to register for our Weekend Workshop: Teamwork at the Barn on Saturday, August 29th! This workshop is geared for ages 8-11.

Participants will work together while grooming horses, complete fun team-building activities, and create a meaningful Friendship Tree craft that celebrates kindness and teamwork. Through positive interactions with horses and peers, kids will build confidence, practice effective communication, and discover the value of working with one another.

Today is , and we’re celebrating who we are and the people who make Making Strides what it is. 🐴💙

At Making Strides Foundation, we believe everyone deserves a place to feel included, build confidence, learn new things, and have fun. Through our equine-assisted services, horses help us create those opportunities for children and young adults living with disabilities.

From hippotherapy and adaptive riding to equine-assisted learning programs, camps, workshops, and field trips, there’s a lot happening at our barn — but at the heart of it all are the people we serve and the community that supports us.

To our families, volunteers, donors, sponsors, and community partners — thank you. We couldn’t do what we do without you. 💙

Take me out to the ball game! ⚾🐴

Join us on Saturday, September 5th for our client baseball outing as the Washington Wild Things take on the Schaumburg Boomers at EQT Park.

Tickets are FREE for Making Strides clients and their immediate family/caregivers, courtesy of Making Strides Foundation. The event includes a pre-game party and buffet at the EQT Pavilion, followed by the Wild Things game at 7:05 pm.

Did you know the Making Strides Foundation hosts engaging, inclusive, hands-on learning experiences designed for children and young adults of all abilities? Our Weekend Workshop blends education, creativity and meaningful interaction with our horses in a supportive, welcoming environment.

🐴 Still smiling about the 4th Annual Summer Showcase Charity Horse Show! 💙

Our horse show in July was a weekend filled with incredible riders, exciting competition, and plenty of special moments — especially our Friday night Student Showcase.

We put together a recap of the weekend, including the Student Showcase, Saturday’s costume class benefiting Saving Grace Rescue, barrels and timed events, and all of the community support that made the weekend possible.
