Do you volunteer with any nonprofit? Or community service? Animal shelter? Child advocate? It can bring out your BEST SELF. Volunteering is a way to give back to the community and that in turn makes you feel better about yourself. The Wellness Center offers a volunteer program called Project Independence and we are in need of more volunteers. The PI volunteers help seniors living in Collin County after they've been released from an inpatient facility, or after a surgery, or even for a day procedure like a cataract surgery. So many of our seniors live isolated and alone and some don't even have a neighbor or friend to call on. If you might be interested, please contact me! It's super rewarding and the clients are SO grateful for the help.

We’re incredibly honored to share that the Wellness Center for Older Adults has been named a finalist in the D CEO 2026 Nonprofit & Corporate Citizenship Awards in the Small Organization of the Year category.

This recognition reflects the heart of our mission: empowering older adults and caregivers to live with dignity, independence, and well-being. Every life touched is made possible by our dedicated team, volunteers, partners, and community supporters.

Thank you for believing in the work we do and in the older adults we serve every day. 💚

Getting around Plano is now easier for older adults. Beginning today (May 4), Plano Rides, a new on-demand public transportation service for seniors, offers a convenient, affordable travel option for residents ages 65 and older.

This citywide service, with a 1.5-mile buffer beyond Plano’s boundaries, provides curb-to-curb rides when and where they are needed. Whether heading to a doctor’s appointment, the grocery store or visiting friends, riders can book a trip using a mobile app, website or by phone.

Plano Rides is free to try until August 9. Learn more and book your ride at city.ridewithvia.com/plano

We are looking forward to joining the wonderful women of 100 Women of McKinney for their upcoming Spring Social on April 23, and we’d love to see some familiar faces there!

As the Executive Director of The Wellness Center for Older Adults, I’m especially grateful for the support our organization received from 100 Women of McKinney at their last giving event. During the evening, Lee Stark will have the opportunity to share an update on how that generosity is helping us expand programs and support older adults in our community.

If you’ve ever been curious about 100 Women of McKinney or want to learn more about the impact of collective giving, this is a great chance to stop by, connect, and hear what’s ahead for their next giving event.

It’s a free event, and guests are welcome—so bring a friend! I hope you’ll join us for a fun evening of connection and community.

Save the Date, Ladies! April 23, 2026

Join us for our Spring Happy Hour, a fun night to reconnect over light bites and cocktails! We’ll hear an update from The Wellness Center for Older Adults, the winner of our last Giving Event, and share a sneak peek of what’s ahead for 100 Women of McKinney 2026.

✨This event is FREE to attend and everyone is welcome, so bring a friend or two!

📌 Please be on the look for updates and more information every week.
