Every nervous system responds differently, and more movement doesn’t necessarily mean more healing.

During a Spinal Flow session, your body is always communicating with your nervous system. For some people, that communication is expressed through visible movements such as gentle swaying, muscle twitches, deep breaths, or emotional releases. For others, the work happens much more quietly and internally.

Your nervous system will only release what it feels safe and ready to release. Sometimes it begins by calming inflammation, reducing stress, improving communication between the brain and body, or creating a greater sense of safety before producing any noticeable physical movement.

Healing isn’t measured by how much your body moves during a session. Many people who have very little outward movement still notice meaningful changes afterward, such as:

* Feeling calmer or more relaxed
* Sleeping better
* Reduced pain or tension
* Improved energy
* Better digestion
* Feeling more present and connected in their body

Every person’s healing journey is unique. Your body has its own pace and wisdom, and we honor that process. Whether your session includes a lot of movement or very little, your nervous system is still receiving the care and support it needs.

Trust your body—it always knows what it’s ready for.

One of the most important things I look for during a Spinal Flow session isn’t just movement… it’s breathing!

This video (sped up footage) shows the clients breathing and the way the body begins to respond during a session.

Sometimes healing doesn’t only look like big movements, twitching, or physical releases. One of the clearest signs that the nervous system is beginning to feel safe is a change in the breath.

As the body starts to soften, the breath often becomes deeper, fuller, and more natural. That’s important because breathing is deeply connected to the nervous system. It helps shift the body out of stress, tension, and protection mode and into a state where it can begin to regulate, unwind, and process what’s been stored.

In Spinal Flow, this kind of breathing can be a sign that the body is moving through layers of stored stress, trauma, emotional tension, and overwhelm that may have been held for a long time.

So while you may notice movement in the body, I also want you to notice the breath. Because sometimes the breath tells the story of what the nervous system is doing before anything else.

Healing doesn’t always have to look dramatic.
Sometimes it looks like a deeper breath.
A softer body.
A nervous system finally feeling safe enough to let go. ✨

✨The Base Gateway✨
Your Foundation of Safety

The Base Gateway is located at the coccyx (tailbone) and serves as the foundation of your nervous system. It’s connected to the body’s sense of safety, security, and grounding. When stress accumulates and creates blockages here, the nervous system can become stuck in a constant state of protection, making it difficult for the body to relax, heal, and thrive.

✨ The Base Gateway is connected to:
• Coccyx (tailbone)
• Feet and toes
• The body’s grounding and stability systems

When blockages occur in this area, you may experience:
• Anxiety
• Depression
• Nervous system dysregulation
• Neurological challenges
• Feeling disconnected from your body
• Feeling overwhelmed, on edge, or constantly “on alert”

✨What does a blocked Base Gateway feel like?

You may feel like you’re always surviving rather than truly living. Even when life seems calm, your body may remain on high alert, scanning for danger and struggling to fully relax.

Some people describe feeling ungrounded, as if they can’t quite “land” in their body or plant their feet firmly on the ground. You’re in a constant state of “fight or flight”.

✨ How Spinal Flow Can Help

Spinal Flow works with the nervous system to identify and release stored stress and tension that may be contributing to spinal blockages.

As the nervous system begins to feel safe, the body can shift out of survival mode and into a state where healing, repair, and regulation become possible.

When the Base Gateway begins to open, many people report feeling:
• More grounded
• More present
• Calmer and less reactive
• More connected to themselves and their surroundings

When your nervous system no longer has to fight for survival, it can begin to do what it was designed to do—heal, adapt, and thrive.

✨What does a release look like?✨

In this session, you’ll notice the shoulders moving almost like a muscle spasm. This is the nervous system releasing stored stress, tension, and protection patterns held through the heart, chest, and shoulders.

Even without saying where the body is holding stress, the body will often tell you. The areas that begin moving, twitching, unwinding, or releasing can give insight into where tension and protection have been stored.

This type of release is often connected to the Centre Gateway, which relates to the:

✨ Heart
✨ Lungs
✨ Chest
✨ Upper back
✨ Shoulders

So many people carry the weight of everyday life in their shoulders caused by stress, pressure, overwhelm, responsibilities, always being “on,” and pushing through even when exhausted. Over time, the body begins to brace and protect itself without us even realizing it.

When the body finally feels safe, it can begin unwinding naturally. These movements aren’t forced, they’re the body’s own intelligence releasing layers of stored tension and stress.

Sometimes healing doesn’t look dramatic.
Sometimes it looks and feels like a shoulder finally letting go of what it’s been carrying.

✨Not all releases look big—and that’s important to understand.

In Spinal Flow, even the smallest, most subtle movements can signal a powerful shift in the nervous system. A gentle twitch, a soft breath, a slight sway, these are all signs that the body is beginning to let go of stored stress and tension.

Release isn’t about how much you move, it’s about what your body is ready to process.

Sometimes the deepest work happens quietly. The nervous system is unwinding at its own pace, creating safety, restoring flow, and allowing healing to happen from the inside out.

Trust the process. Small movements, big impact. ✨

✨ Foundation Gateway✨
Your Body’s Base of Safety & Support

The Foundation Gateway is exactly what it sounds like, your base. It’s where your body connects to feelings of safety, stability, and groundedness.

This gateway is connected to:
• Hips
• Pelvis
• Lower back
• Sacrum
• Legs & feet

✨When the Foundation Gateway is blocked, it may show up as:
• Lower back pain or stiffness
• Hip tightness or discomfort
• Sciatic pain
• Feeling ungrounded or “on edge”
• Chronic stress or survival mode
• Fatigue or heaviness in the body

This is often where the body stores deep stress patterns, especially around safety, security, and support.

✨If blocked, you may feel:
• Anxious without knowing why
• Disconnected from your body
• Tense, guarded, or stuck
• Like you can’t fully relax

When the Foundation Gateway begins to open, you starts to feel safe again.

• Your nervous system settles
• You feel more grounded and present
• Tension in the lower body begins to release
• Movement feels easier and more natural
• There’s a sense of stability (physically and emotionally)

You may notice your body start to unwind in sessions by gentle movements, shifts, or releases as stored stress begins to let go.

✨Why Your foundation matters?
When this gateway is open, everything above it has a stronger, more supported base to flow from.

If you’ve been feeling stuck, tense, or disconnected… your body may just be asking for support at its foundation!
