As a PT dad, one thing I'm working on with my son for tackle football is core stability + shoulder control.
This exercise is a bear hold with shoulder taps and is great for youth athletes because it challenges them to stabilize their trunk while shifting weight from one arm to the other.
How to do it:
Start on hands and knees with toes tucked
Press through your shoulders and toes and lift your knees just off the ground
Shift your weight to one hand and tap the opposite shoulder
Keep your core tight and avoid rotating or extending through your spine or hips.
15-20 taps each side × 3 rounds
The goal isn't just to get through the reps - control the movement.
Save this one for your young athlete and follow along for more exercises I'm using with my own son.
