Oh hey 👋🏼 hey👋🏼!
I had a baby! Here we are!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Juniper Blue was born August 24th, very early morning, at here in PDX.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Ollie and I are totally smitten and busy learning all things Junie Blue 💙!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The little squish is 8 weeks old today 😳 I can hardly believe how the time has flown by. Check out a few of my favorite Juniper moments above - plus a magical pregnancy pic by the incredible - taken 2 weeks before Juniper arrived.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Both my pregnancy and being a new mama to this little squish have inspired me to be incredibly present (and grateful!) for each and every moment. I know this experience is fleeting and I don’t want to rush past any of it. I certainly don’t want to miss a minute discovering something new with little Juniper. This means I’m also inspired to spend less time on social media - so….more Junie Blue to come - but very sporadically!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Feeling so much gratitude and lots of love.

Sending some your way!
😘😘😘

This big buoyant bowl is a pretty typical lunch for me. It comes together in a SNAP IF you have some common staple ingredients on hand - plus, it’s super flexi!

Basically it’s cooked noodles (I like rice noodles), broth, veg of choice: mushies, kelp, frozen peas, greens, herbs. The veg could go whatever directions you want based on what you have.

I didn’t add additional protein - but if you wanted it you could add a soft or hard cooked egg, some shredded cooked meat, or maybe tofu.

Here’s how it snaps together:
🍲Get your noodles cooking.
🍲In a separate pan heat broth. I love to add grated fresh ginger (or dried!), minced garlic, and because I happen to have them: dried kelp flakes, and a little shiitake mushroom powder.
🍲Once broth is simmering, add some quick-cooking veg. Great options: mushies, finely diced celery, cabbage, hearty greens...or you could even add pre-cooked veg if you have it: leftover squash, or brussels sprouts, or sweet potato. Whatever you have! I just used diced mushrooms and frozen peas. And frozen veg is a GREAT option for this! Let the broth just thaw the veg, no need to overly cook it.
🍲Once the noodles are cooked, drain and add to your bowl.
🍲Top with a swirl of toasted sesame oil, and a swirl of braggs or soy sauce. Add some fresh herbs like cilantro, scallion, or basil. AND some chopped baby greens if you have them - this is a blend of spinach, chard, and kale.
🍲Top it all with the brothy mixture! By adding the baby greens raw - and topping with the broth - they stay kind of firm - which I like. You could also stir them in with the broth so they get really wilty.

✨A note on toasted sesame oil: it is a fabulous staple to have on hand for adding big easy flavor. Used as a dash at the END of cooking, or even when serving is best. It’s not really the best to cook with - more to dress or flavor with.

And that’s it! It really takes about 15 minutes to put this big bowl of goodness together - and it is so warming, so tasty.

Keep it simple, use what you’ve got, and enjoy!

unaccountably we are alone
forever alone
and it was meant to be
that way,
it was never meant
to be any other way–
and when the death struggle
begins
the last thing I wish to see
is
a ring of human faces
hovering over me–
better just my old friends,
the walls of my self,
let only them be there.

I have been alone but seldom
lonely.
I have satisfied my thirst
at the well
of my self
and that wine was good,
the best I ever had,
and tonight
sitting
staring into the dark
I now finally understand
the dark and the
light and everything
in between.

peace of mind and heart
arrives
when we accept what
is:
having been
born into this
strange life
we must accept
the wasted gamble of our
days
and take some satisfaction in
the pleasure of
leaving it all
behind.

cry not for me.

grieve not for me.

read
what I’ve written
then
forget it
all.

drink from the well
of your self
and begin
again.

S O U L M A T E

I love this guy! Today is our 9th wedding anniversary✨

I’m quite sure that my ancestors dreamed up this partnership - a relationship built on equality, shared visions, a strengthening and fortifying of each other's character - so much support! I see it now - ancestors praying for a future union, one that alchemizes into something new, something healing. I think, I hope, the D & O persona is embracing for others - feels like a warm, kind, hug. A respite for the weary. A place of comfort, warmth, ease, freedom to be as you are. I hope we twinkle! I hope we feel like home.

I know Ollie helps me to be a better person. He helps me remember who I am when I get chasey, he inspires adventure and seeing parts of the world I may have never seen, he helps me feel safe, empowered, encouraged, adored. And I’m so honored to get to witness the person that he continues to become. A brilliant mind, a loving leader, such a hard worker. I love his vision for new ways of being, of building, of placecrafting.

I was thinking of our wedding day - it rained lightly in the morning - like today! - and then the sun broke through. Skies were clear, just warm enough, and the day felt fresh, sparkling, alive. Our ceremony was a fusion of the creativity and talents of so many incredible people, family, friends, friends who have become family. We were so overwhelmed by everyone's love and generosity. I feel that again right now. So much gratitude. So many tears!

Anyhoo - I feel lucky. I wish for everyone to experience a love that uplifts. Relationships that make you both better. Ancestors that are rooting for you. Descendants that are rooted for. Love, respect, kindness - all ingredients for remaking a beautiful world.

Whoops - went way woo.

Love you 🤟🏼

How to feed a hungry heart?
Listen to the Silence.

“The heart’s food is passionate desire to create, to be, to understand, to love life, and to continue growth.

All of the answers to any questions that your heart seeks can be found in the stillness. When you go there, you may encounter an echo. Do not be afraid; it is only the second heartbeat of our true mother, the earth. That second heartbeat signals that you have found your secret path and returned home.”

This seed-y wonder is a breakfast fave - turns out it’s phenomenal for lunch too!

This grain-free porridge recipe is inspired by and is a staple in my house. It’s incredibly easy to prep, it’s super versatile AND it tastes great and feels great in my bod!

To make you need:

✨ 1 cup flax seed
✨1/2 cup pumpkin seeds
✨1/2 cup sunflower seeds
✨1 cup shredded coconut
✨1/2 cup chia seeds
✨1 teaspoon cinnamon
✨pinch of sea salt
✨1 vanilla bean, seeded or extract (optional)

Topping ideas:
✨Fresh or frozen fruit
✨Nut butters
✨Yogurts
✨Honey

To make:

🤍Toast the pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, and coconut flakes. Spread them out on a cookie sheet and toast for 2 - 3 minutes (or until fragrant!) in a 350 degree oven.
🤍Grind flax seed into a fine meal and set aside (I usually grind about a cup and then just have it stored in the refrigerator for for later).
🤍Using a food processor, process toasted seeds, coconut, chia, cinnamon, sea salt, and vanilla until finely ground. (If using vanilla extract - just add a drop to your individual serving)
🤍I like to store the flax seeds in one jar in the fridge, and store the seed and coconut mixture in the a separate jar.
🤍When you’re ready to prepare a serving:
✨scoop about ¼ of the seed mixture into a bowl
✨add approx 2 tablespoons of ground flax
✨add hot water to cover, along with your toppings of choice!
✨Enjoy!

I'm topping with this tasty plant-based yogurt from Lava - it's made with Pili nuts and it's AWESOME!

I hope you're fueling yourself with something that feels good!

Lot's of love!

✨💚Praying💚✨

It doesn’t have to be
the blue iris, it could be
weeds in a vacant lot, or a few
small stones; just
pay attention, then patch

a few words together and don’t try
to make them elaborate, this isn’t
a contest but the doorway

into thanks, and a silence in which
another voice may speak.
