A student raised her hand from across the room.
“My little brother is paralyzed on one side of his body. We’ve tried braces, medication, all kinds of things. Do you think using the needles could help him?”
I wasn’t prepared for that question.
The needles *might* make a difference. But you know what will make an even bigger difference? A big sister willing to ask questions, think outside the box, and advocate for her brother. Someone willing to challenge what’s been done before and push for what might be possible.
That’s the kind of person who can help change this field.
Every year, I get the opportunity to stop by Metro to share my journey with students. With each presentation, that chapter of my life feels a little further in the rearview mirror. But I remember being that kid, dreaming of making a difference.
Now, I get to live it out and hopefully inspire the next generation to do the same.
Thank you, Mrs. Reeves, for making such a lasting impression on me and for giving me the opportunity to share my story with your students.
See you next year! 🫀
