There’s something pretty special about taking care of the horses who have spent their whole lives taking care of us. ❤️🐴
EquiWave owner Kate recently gave Gator a PEMF treatment. At 25 years old, Gator spent his prime years as a head horse, putting in countless miles and making a career out of doing his job. These days, he’s enjoying retirement with trail rides, the occasional chase of the rope sled, and plenty of well-earned downtime.
Gator has always had a sway back, and years of performance have left him carrying a lot of tension and soreness through his back. But he’s also incredibly stoic—he rarely complains or shows discomfort.
During his PEMF treatment, you can actually see the PEMF working as the muscles visibly pulse and respond. One of my favorite signs is watching him release—a deep lick, sigh, chew, and that unmistakable “ahhh” moment. 😌
While his back is an area where he carries a lot of tension, most horses absolutely LOVE having PEMF applied around the poll, TMJ, and occipital area. I don’t normally use the large loop in this particular placement, but Gator is my personal horse, and I know him well enough to know that he tolerates it beautifully—and actually enjoys it.
And the best part? The difference afterward.
That stoic old head horse gets a little spring back in his step. You’ll find him running, bucking, and playing in turnout like he forgot he’s 25. 🥹❤️
He may be retired from his head horse career, but he still deserves to feel his absolute best.
Old horses need love, maintenance, and a little extra care too. They’ve given us their best years. Let’s give them the same in return. ❤️🐴
