I've been given the chance to sit in on, and speak on one of the panels at the International Conference for Post Traumatic Epilepsy (IC-PTE) throughout the week. This has been an absolute honor for me to sit in with Doctors, Heads of Institutions, and medical CEOs from around the world as we all help advance strategies for preventing and treating post-traumatic epilepsy (PTE).

I find it so weird that I can be totally calm during major trauma/medical calls and at the hospital have Nurses, Doctors and Surgeons listen to me and can give a comprehensive report on what is wrong, what I've done and everything else. But when nights like tonight when Dad is actively having a stroke, or my sister who's in anaphylactic shock and can't breathe or my mother who we just got out of cardiac arrest and is now in respiratory distress I can't. I get jittery, panic, and I'm all over the place trying to explain what's going on. Sometimes it's even to doctors and nurses who I've given these reports to. Unless it's actively treating them or working on them everything from my training goes out the window when it's family. Any of my fellow EMS friends have you ever experienced something like this?
