Another reminder, do not I repeat do not apply numbing cream before you come to your appointment without consulting with me first. Here’s why
1. I need to see what you are using
2. I will make sure it’s applied correctly.
3. I will make sure it’s wrapped correctly.
4.Using a numbing agent not designed for tattoos could result in damaging effects to the tattoo and be harmful to the healing process. Especially numbing creams bought on 3rd party websites like Amazon where you aren’t actually sure what you’re getting.
Applying too much cream, wrapping the skin too tightly, or using unverified foreign brands can cause your body to absorb dangerous amounts of lidocaine, leading to seizures, unconsciousness, or cardiac issues.
I recommend 2 brands, painless tattoo and tattoo numbing co. Do not buy off brands from Amazon as they contain menthol which is not a numbing agent. It only masks the pain by causing a cooling and tingling sensation by stimulating nerve endings involved with pain relief, which is why it wears off so quickly. It can trigger intense stinging, burning sensations, and severe skin irritation. Worse, it can cause contact dermatitis or chemical burns.
If you show up with numbing cream on your deposit will be forfeited and I will not be able to tattoo you that day.
When an artist tells you no, we’re not being mean. We’re watching out for your own safety. I refuse to do something that could cause someone great harm.
