What started as increased regulation with our last Governor, has continued with our current administration. The most recent bill which was meant to open retail sales for dispensary products in Virginia has capped those at 10mg and those of us in the h**p space are reduced to 2mg per package. This means reformulation of just about all full spectrum products on the market. We will also be losing some of our current legal products when the changes take place later in the year. This article helps explain some of the details but we will be learning as we go forward as they have not yet ironed out the complete details.

In the final hours of Virginia’s legislative session, language in the pending ma*****na bill SB542 suddenly changed to impose a 2mg THC per package limit and remove the 25:1 ratio exception that has facilitated the h**p and CBD market for the past few years. This limit would effectively ban 95% of legal h**p products, including non-intoxicating CBD topicals, CBD oils, and CBD pet chews. The bill is now on the governor’s desk (must be signed by April 13th) and if unchanged, will go into effect in July, six months before the retail ma*****na market launches. This would crush already regulated, law-abiding small businesses and create a 6 month vacuum in legal cannabinoid sales, encouraging regressive black market activity.

After receiving some good news this evening regarding the continued growth of our family farm business into new frontiers of this industry, I am taking a minute to be thankful for the journey since our first year growing during the COVID lockdown. There have been so many challenges, including changes in state laws, seasons of drought, learning to navigate the regulations of two states (VA & WVA) and watching many local growers and retailers move on to other endeavors. We are grateful to be here and to be navigating new waters with enthusiasm. Thank you to all of our customers, friends, families, and partners who have been on this wild ride with us! We appreciate each and every one of you. 💚

Time sure flies! Our first year growing was during the pandemic. I will always treasure the time we spent in the field that season when everything felt so out of balance elsewhere.
The first harvest will always be special.

All this rain sent our initial planting over our heads! I can't wait to see the other 500 reach this stage in the coming weeks.

This made me laugh this morning.
We sold out of our human and pet safe CBD oil last week and have a fresh new batch available!

Just a friendly reminder that our family farm grown CBD oil is safe for dogs/cats/rabbits ! This new study confirmed what we have seen since we began in 2019 thanks to our good friends in the Veterinary community who have had hands on experience with cannabinoids and many of our animals friends!

Big news from our friends at the National Animal Supplement Council

A new study has published results from the first-of-its-kind peer-reviewed safety study of cannabidiol products in healthy dogs. In the study, different cannabinoids were well tolerated in healthy male and female dogs when dosed for 90 consecutive days with a 14-day recovery period.

Based on the results of this study, other published studies, and data from extensive post-market surveillance, h**p-derived cannabinoids are well tolerated in healthy dogs at a dose of 5mg/kg of body weight per day and do not pose significant risk to dogs in long-term use.

“These data demonstrate that different cannabidiols are safe for long-term use in healthy dogs when given at the dose studied,” said Bill Bookout NASC President.
