We kicked off summer break with a little family getaway to Pigeon Forge — the perfect pause before life picks back up. A change of pace, change of scenery, and new memories made. 🏞️💛

The two littles haven’t been feeling their best, but this morning, I got up and hit the gym anyway. Not because I felt like it, but because I made a promise to myself. And I’m learning that the version of me I’m becoming doesn’t rely on motivation — she moves with discipline, even when life feels heavy. 💪🏾

The excuses were loud — new week, sick kids, long drive home, full to-do list. But I’ve got goals. And I refuse to keep putting me at the bottom of the list.

Also starting my junior year of college classes this week!

Juggling motherhood, class assignments, workouts, emotions, and all the in-between moments isn’t easy… but it’s worth it.

So here’s your reminder:
You can make excuses or you can make moves — but you can’t do both.
Start small.
Show up.
Let’s keep going.
We’ve got this!

Today, we remember. 🇺🇸

Memorial Day isn’t just a day off, mattress sales, slinging beers or a time for cookouts—it’s a day of remembrance for the brave men and women who lost their lives serving in the U.S. military. It’s not a day to thank veterans (that’s Veterans Day), but a time to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice. Those that laid down their lives for you and I to be and do as we do today.

In the fitness world, many will take on the Murph Challenge to honor Lt. Michael Murphy, a Navy SEAL who gave his life in 2005.

The workout:
1 mile run
100 pull-ups
200 push-ups
300 air squats
1 mile run (with a weighted vest if you have one)

It’s tough—but it’s nothing compared to what those heroes endured.

If you’re a parent, take a moment to teach your kids what this day really means. Let them know why flags are at half-staff, why we pause, why we shed a tear, and why freedom isn’t free.

Whether you do Murph, reflect in silence, or simply carry gratitude in your heart—do something today to honor the fallen.

We remember:
2nd LT Tobias C. Alexander
CPT Jesse Ozbat

Thank you will never be enough.

If you would’ve told me a year ago that I’d be choosing to run regularly, I would’ve laughed mid-stretch. 😂

The only running I ever did before was part of a CrossFit WOD or a warm-up to lift heavy. It was never the main event—never something I actually enjoyed. Cardio in general just has never been my cup of tea.
But this season of life has shifted something in me. Now, I lace up and go, not for speed or competition, but for peace, progress, and presence.

I’m not a fast runner. I’m not chasing a pace. After two knee surgeries and no cartilage on the inside of my knee, the goal isn’t to be the fastest—it’s to be consistent. To move. To feel able. And to honor my body for all it still can do.

Running has given me so much more than I expected—mental clarity, physical resilience, and a new level of appreciation for slow, steady growth. It’s therapy. It’s endurance.
It’s a reminder that even when life feels like chaos, I can always take that next step.

Here’s to doing things we once said weren’t for us—and learning that maybe, just maybe, they were all along.

Sometimes the biggest victories don’t come with trophies or praise—they come quietly, in the middle of chaos, exhaustion, and “just making it through.”

Last week, I:
• Got the boys to school mostly on time.
• Made it to the gym even when I didn’t feel like it.
• Advocated for my child in ways that only a parent truly understands.
• Treated myself for Mother’s Day
• Showed up to practices, games, field trips, and finals.
• Grieved deeply, but still got up.
• Tackled my to-do list one small task at a time.
• Snuck in a quiet moment with good food or fresh air when I could.

These are the mini wins. The ones that don’t go viral, but keep you moving forward.
Celebrate them. Count them. They matter more than you think.
You’re not just surviving—you’re stacking up strength, one small win at a time.

These last couple weeks of school are flying by, and I’m soaking it in with the boys. 7 days to go! 🏫
Yesterday I spent the day on a field trip with Lennox. Today, I’m home with Memphis, juggling housework, laundry, and all the little things that keep our world moving.

I didn’t hit the pavement for my run yesterday—but don’t get it twisted, the work is still getting done.

NEAT (Non-Exercise Activity Thermogenesis) is all the movement we do outside of structured workouts—cleaning, chasing toddlers, walking around the zoo, running errands, and yes, field trips and folding clothes count too. It all counts. It all matters. And it adds up.

Strength training is important, but so is showing up for my family and managing life outside the gym. This season is full, but it’s full of purpose.

And that kind of work?
It builds strength in a whole different way.

The world tells our kids they have to shrink themselves to fit in.

But here? He gets to just be!
He doesn't have to struggle to be understood.
He gets to just be himself—and that's more than enough.
Here's to building a world where neurodivergent kids are celebrated, not silenced.

Saturday’s 5K reminded me of something I’ve had to keep telling myself lately — just keep showing up.

Life has been a lot lately. Between family matters, wrapping up my semester, juggling all things “mom” with the boys having just nine days of school left, and the nonstop demands of everyday life… I’m stretched. And honestly? My eating hasn’t been the best. My workouts haven’t been as consistent as I wanted. I’ve missed some days. I’ve felt the overwhelm.

But you know what? I’m still showing up. Not perfectly, but purposefully. I’m doing what I can with what I have. And that counts.

So if you’re feeling behind, scattered, or not “on it” like you want to be — take a breath. Progress isn’t always loud. Sometimes it looks like finishing a run you almost skipped. Or making dinner when takeout sounded easier. Or simply giving yourself grace and trying again tomorrow.

We don’t need perfect. We just need real and resilient.

AND I’M DAMN PROUD OF THAT!

This week is state testing week here in Kentucky—and while that brings stress for some students, it brings yet another unique set of challenges for Lennox, who is autistic and ADHD. The school environment itself most days is already overstimulating for him. And these testing environments can be overwhelming: the pressure, the structure, the dead silence, the unexpected—all of it can stir up big emotions and anxiety. For a child with ADHD and autism combined, it’s sensory overload and a battle to stay regulated all at once. It’s tough on this mommas heart.

But this week, I’ve been reminded of the power of a solid support system.

From the teachers to the special education staff, I’m beyond grateful for the way they’ve reached out, asked questions, and truly listened to understand how to best support him. Whether it’s adjusting the testing environment, offering movement breaks, or just checking in with a little extra patience—they’ve made space for him to show up as himself.

It’s never lost on me how important it is to have a village that sees your child, not just the diagnosis. I’m grateful for his school staff creating a space where he doesn’t just feel tested—but supported. When you have a child who’s wired differently, these moments of understanding mean everything. I truly am grateful for educators who go above and beyond to make sure our kids have what they need—not just to perform, but to feel okay doing it

To all the parents navigating this week with extra care and to all the educators doing the same—your effort matters more than you know.

Another 5k 🏃🏾‍♀️ coming up for me this weekend. So I finally went and got properly fitted for running shoes using the Aetrex foot scanning system—and it was a game changer.

After two knee surgeries and having no cartilage on the inside of one knee, I have to be intentional about the support I give my body. The wrong shoes aren’t just uncomfortable for me—they can cause real pain and set me back.

The Aetrex scan took less than a minute and gave me a full 3D view of my feet. I would’ve never known about my heels and balls of my feet holding so much pressure without this scan. It measured:
• Arch height
• Foot length & width
• Pressure distribution
• Gait pattern
• Pronation type

Most people don’t realize they’re wearing the wrong shoes—especially when it comes to running or strength training. But the wrong fit can throw off your alignment and put unnecessary stress on your knees, hips, and back. 😬

Now I know exactly what kind of support I need—and I’m excited to feel the difference in how I move and recover. If you’re active in any way (walking, running, strength training), this is so worth doing. Your knees, hips and back will thank you!

Your feet are literally your foundation—take care of them.

The little boys were up at 5:30 this morning. I was already exhausted—and the nasty rain outside wasn’t helping my mood or my motivation.
Finals week is in full swing, I’m still grieving loss, and life feels extra heavy right now.

Truth is, I didn’t want to hit the gym today. I wanted to sleep in like the other 2/5s of my house. 🤦🏾‍♀️
My body was tired. My heart even more so.
But I went.

Not because I felt like it physically—but because I needed it mentally.
This rain wasn’t doing a thing for my serotonin, so I had to go find it for myself.

Some days, the workout isn’t about muscles or macros. It’s about choosing your mental health.
It’s showing up for yourself even when everything in you says not to.

This morning, I didn’t choose fitness.
I chose clarity.
I chose me.

Happy Saturday.
