In 2012 I was introduced to the Lakota of the Cheyenne River Sioux Reservation. I was immediately drawn to the Lakota People and felt a strong leading to help them in whatever capacity God directed. Since 2012 I’ve developed many relationships and made many trips to both the Cheyenne River and Pine Ridge Reservations.
The Lakota are the most evangelized nation with the least amount of converts. This is due to past persecution by the Church, the white man, and the government. Their land was stolen, treaties continually broken, their people gunned down, and their children taken and put into boarding homes were they suffered tremendous abuse. This is just the tip of the iceberg. Currently, unemployment is at 80% with drug and alcohol abuse almost equaling that. Sexual abuse affects 3 out of 4 and the su***de rate is 4x that of the national average.
Last fall Keven and Velma Porter joined us to take a trailer of donations to both reservations. On June 5th, of this year, the Porters and the Huckabas joined us for a week as we ministered along side of Pastors Jerome and Randy Slides Off of Red Warrior Ministries . We had a giveaway of donations and sack lunches on Tuesday, the 8th. Wednesday, the 9th, we held an evening service with a supper following. At the end of the week the team went to remote communities to reach out to the local residents for prayer needs, and another giveaway, lunch and Bible study in Bridger.
On August 3rd we will head to Cheyenne River with a team of FCFC ladies, headed up by Janis Huckaba. She is leading a three day women’s conference. There will be gifts at the door, giveaways, meals, a foot washing, guest speakers, and teaching by the women of FCFC. Most importantly we will love on the Lakota women and assure them of how important and loved they are by God.
None of this can be accomplished without the prayer, donations of goods, and financial support of the body of Christ. Everyone has a part. We ask that you prayerfully consider what part God would have you to play in this outreach. If you have any questions or feel led to give in any way please contact me via FaceBook messenger. You can also find a donation link in the menu on our website. www.ps103.org
