A new chapter for Lion Heart alumnus Ken!

Ken recently celebrated his first day of graduate school, and we couldn’t be happier to recognize this exciting milestone and the progress he continues to make.

Growth can take many forms. Sometimes it means taking on a new challenge, pursuing a goal, or discovering what you’re capable of as you continue moving forward. Ken, we’re proud to have been part of your mental health journey and excited to see where this next chapter takes you.

Congratulations on your first day of grad school, Ken! Keep going!

September is National Recovery Month.

This month, we celebrate every person who has chosen recovery, everyone taking their first steps toward change, and the families, friends, professionals, and communities who walk alongside them.

Recovery doesn’t look the same for everyone. It can mean rebuilding relationships, learning healthier ways to cope, finding stability, rediscovering purpose, or simply making the decision to try again today.

At Lion Heart Behavioral Health, we have the privilege of seeing the strength behind recovery every single day. We see the hard work. We see the setbacks and breakthroughs. And most importantly, we see what’s possible when people receive the support they deserve.

To everyone in recovery: your journey matters, your progress matters, and your story is still being written.

And to anyone wondering whether recovery is possible for them, it is.

You spend so much time worrying about them. Who’s supporting you?

When someone you love is struggling with addiction or mental health challenges, it’s easy for your own needs to get pushed aside.

Our Family Support Program meets tonight and offers a place where you can talk openly, connect with people who understand, and gain tools for navigating the challenges your family may be facing.

You don’t need to have the right words. You don’t need to have everything figured out. Just come as you are.

Some milestones speak to years of perseverance, growth, and an extraordinary commitment to change.

Luis, a Case Manager at Lion Heart Behavioral Health, is celebrating 11 years in recovery.

Recovery is built through countless choices, challenges, and moments of growth. Reaching eleven years reflects an incredible commitment to continuing that journey and building a life rooted in purpose, connection, and hope.

As a Case Manager, Luis now brings his experience and compassion to helping others navigate their own paths forward. His story is a powerful reminder that recovery can become more than a new chapter in your own life. It can also become an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others.

Congratulations, Luis, on 11 incredible years of recovery. We’re grateful to have you as part of the Lion Heart family and proud to celebrate this milestone with you.

One of our own is taking on an incredible journey for a cause that hits very close to home.

Bill, a member of the Lion Heart Behavioral Health team, is preparing to ride his motorcycle more than 4,000 miles to raise money for the Prostate Cancer Foundation in honor of his brother, Joe, who passed away from prostate cancer earlier this year.

Just one month after losing his brother, Bill received a prostate cancer diagnosis of his own.

Before undergoing surgery this fall, Bill is hitting the road for a 4,000+ mile ride to the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally and through the Black Hills. He is funding the trip himself, which means 100% of donations will go directly to the Prostate Cancer Foundation.

Bill has set a fundraising goal of $4,000, and we’re proud to support him as he turns an incredibly difficult chapter into an opportunity to honor his brother and help others.

Please join us in cheering Bill on, sharing his story, or making a donation if you’re able.

Ride safe, Bill. The entire Lion Heart family is behind you. 💙

Some patterns didn’t start with you but they can end with you.

The way a family handles conflict, emotions, stress, vulnerability, or even silence can sometimes be connected to pain that began generations earlier.

This is known as generational trauma. It can show up through anxiety, difficulty trusting others, unhealthy relationship patterns, trouble expressing emotions, or feeling responsible for everyone else’s needs.

But generational trauma doesn’t have to determine what comes next.

Our latest blog explores how these patterns are passed down, how to recognize them, and how therapy, boundaries, emotional skills, and intentional change can help break the cycle.

You may not have created the pattern, but you can be part of changing it.
