There is something powerful about finding a rhythm together.

On Saturday, September 19, Andrew Kowal will be joining us at Healing Phases for Rhythm & Resilience, a 90-minute community drum circle exploring the connection between rhythm, nervous system health, emotional well-being, and connection.

This is not about knowing how to play an instrument or keeping the "right" beat. Andrew will guide the group through simple, accessible drumming experiences designed to explore rhythm as a resource for grounding, regulation, resilience, and stress relief.

We'll close the afternoon with a singing bowl sound healing experience.

🥁 No musical experience required
🥁 Drums and percussion instruments provided
🥁 Saturday, September 19
🥁 2:00–3:30 PM

Spiritual uncertainty can be unsettling. When beliefs, practices, or experiences that once guided us no longer feel as clear, we may wonder whether we have lost our connection with the Sacred or wandered away from ourselves.

But uncertainty does not always mean disconnection. Sometimes it creates an opening to listen more honestly. Our questions, longings, grief, and wonder can be part of the spiritual journey, not obstacles to it.

When these experiences are met without judgment, moments of self-acceptance and sacred connection can become touchstones. They may not make the path certain, but they can remind us of what we trust and help us find our way back to the True Self.

Home is not a place where every question disappears. It is the growing capacity to return to ourselves and the Sacred within, however we understand or name it.

What has helped you remember your connection during a season of spiritual uncertainty?

August often brings a return to routine. Schools reopen, calendars begin to fill, and familiar rhythms begin taking shape again. At the same time, the world around us may feel anything but settled.

Our August newsletter, Returning Home Within, reflects on what can help us stay connected to ourselves amid uncertainty.

Inside, you’ll find:

• Annette Garber’s newest article, Coming Home to Your True Self
• An invitation to the Writing Ourselves Home women’s circle
• Rhythm & Resilience and our monthly community classes
• Two upcoming community wellness festivals where you can find Healing Phases
• A simple practice for creating a touchstone you can return to

We hope you’ll find something here that helps you pause, reconnect, and move into the coming season with a little more steadiness.

Read the August newsletter and explore what’s ahead at Healing Phases.

We’re all set up at the Reading Public Museum for Inspiring Wellness today! 🌿

The museum is open to the public for free or by donation, so it’s a great day to come explore the galleries, meet local wellness providers, and see what our community has to offer.

Stop by the Healing Phases table while you’re here! Jason is offering free chair massage throughout the event, and you can enter our raffle for a chance to win a free full massage.

We’ll be here 11 AM to 4 PM and would love to see some familiar faces. Come say hi, enjoy the museum, check out the other wellness vendors, and maybe take a few minutes to do something good for yourself. 💚

A relationship can feel like home when there is room to be honest, to feel seen, and to keep growing, both as individuals and together.

It does not mean every conversation is easy or conflict never happens. Sometimes, home is knowing that difficult moments do not have to become permanent distance.

It may look like:

Being able to tell the truth.
Feeling heard without having to explain everything perfectly.
Making room for repair.
Knowing you can change without growing apart.
Finding your way back to one another.

What helps a relationship feel like home to you?

Complete the sentence in the comments:

Sometimes the argument is not only about what happened.

The dishes, the money, the parenting decision, or the unfinished responsibility may be real. But underneath the disagreement, there may be deeper questions:

Do I matter to you?

Do you understand me?

Are you here with me?

Am I alone in this?

When couples become caught in a familiar cycle of criticism, defensiveness, pursuit, or withdrawal, it can become difficult to hear the hurt underneath each other’s reactions. Each person begins responding to the pattern while feeling as though the other person is the problem.

A meaningful shift can happen when couples begin to recognize the pattern together.

The conflict may not disappear, but the interaction can change. One person stays present a little longer. A question replaces an assumption. An apology is offered without defensiveness. A difficult conversation begins to feel different.

These moments create relief. Over time, relief can make space for emotional safety, trust, and a renewed sense of connection.

The goal is not to avoid every difficult moment. It is to build a relationship where you can find your way back to each other.

This fall, we'll gather in circle.

Four evenings of journaling, reflection, gentle embodiment, and authentic connection.

In the midst of busy lives, responsibilities, and life's many transitions, it can be easy to lose touch with our own inner voice. Writing Ourselves Home is an invitation to slow down, listen inward, and reconnect with the wisdom that lives within you. Together, we'll create space to welcome all parts of ourselves onto the page with curiosity and compassion.

No writing experience is needed. Sharing is always optional.

🗓 Wednesdays, September 16, 23, 30 & October 7

If this invitation resonates with you, we'd love to welcome you into the circle.

Registration is now open. Visit the link in our bio to learn more and reserve your place.

Some days we're simply looking for a little relief.

Some days we're learning what safety feels like.

Some days trust begins to grow.

And sometimes we catch ourselves feeling more at home in our own lives than we were before.

Healing isn't a race, and it isn't linear. We don't move neatly from one phase to the next. Sometimes we revisit familiar places. Sometimes we linger. Sometimes we surprise ourselves.

That's okay.

Every phase has value.

As you read these four words today...

Relief.
Safety.
Trust.
Home.

Which one feels closest to where you are right now?

Many people believe trust is where healing begins.

But what if trust isn't the starting point?

When we're carrying chronic stress, trauma, grief, or overwhelm, our nervous systems often become organized around protection. It can be difficult to trust while our bodies are still trying to determine whether we're safe.

Sometimes healing begins a little earlier.

Sometimes it begins with relief.

A deep breath.

A moment of being seen.

A place where you don't have to keep bracing.

As relief reduces the sense of threat, the nervous system has an opportunity to soften. Over time, that growing sense of safety can make room for trust. And trust can become the felt sense of coming home to yourself.

This is one of the guiding philosophies behind Healing Phases:

Relief → Safety → Trust → Home

Healing doesn't happen all at once.

Healing happens in phases.

What has helped you find a little relief when life has felt overwhelming?
