Trooper and the Worry Fireflies is coming to Amazon on October 15th!
I wanted to share a little about why I started creating these books, because they are about much more than a cute puppy.
For years, I’ve had the privilege of sitting with children and families as they navigate worry, change, grief, and growth. Those experiences are a big part of where these stories began. I wanted to create something children could connect with, and something parents, caregivers, teachers, and therapists could use to begin conversations that aren’t always easy to start.
But Trooper has been my greatest teacher.
For those of you who know him, you know. Trooper has a way of making people feel welcome, noticed, and loved. I’ve watched the comfort he brings simply by being himself. He doesn’t ask people to explain what they’re feeling or be anything other than who they are. He’s just happy to be beside them. That may seem like a small thing, but over the years, he has shown me how much it matters.
He is also the same dog who brings us a stuffie every time we come home, even when we’ve only been out to check the mail. Every single time. That is the Trooper I want to share with you.
These books are my way of bringing a little of what he gives us into the lives of other children and families. I want a child to look at Trooper and think, “He feels that way, too.” I want his stories to make room for questions, conversations, and the reassurance that we don’t have to figure everything out alone.
In Trooper and the Worry Fireflies, Trooper has some “what-ifs” of his own. With Momma beside him, he learns to notice his worries and take a brave step, even while those little fireflies are still glowing.
There are many more Trooper stories I hope to share. But right now, I’m just so happy that you get to meet him this way.
