One last big weekend. Then it's all yours.

Labor Day is the last big push. After Monday the traffic thins out, the beach empties, and the best season on the Delaware coast belongs to the people who actually live here. That's when a hot tub earns its keep.

That first nor'easter of the season is out there somewhere, warming up. Locals know the drill. Batten down the porch furniture, make a grocery run, and then find the best seat in the house.

Ours happens to be outside, at 102 degrees, with the jets running while the wind does its thing. There is no better weather for a hot tub than bad weather. Ask anybody who owns one.

September and October are the best months to own a hot tub in this town. Cool nights, no bugs, the water holding at 102, and nobody fighting you for a parking spot on Rehoboth Ave.

Late August light on the Eastern Shore is the whole reason people stay out here.

Marsh grass turns gold. The sky does that thing over the water around 7:45. And the best seat for it is not a beach chair, it is 102 degree water on your own deck with the jets running.

We were very saddened to learn about the recent loss of one of Assateague Island's beautiful wild horses after being struck by a vehicle.

These horses are such a special part of our local community and something so many of us are lucky to enjoy. If you're visiting Assateague, please slow down, stay alert, and remember to give the horses plenty of space. Their safety depends on all of us.

Our thoughts are with everyone affected by this heartbreaking loss. ❤️

How wrecked did the beach leave you today? We made an official scale.

1 is a boardwalk stroll and an ice cream cone. 10 is two chairs, a cooler, an umbrella, and a kid asleep on your shoulder for the whole walk back to the car.

Hot first or cold first?

Round two of the great debate.

Team Hot warms up first. Sauna or the tub, get loose, then drop into the Therafrost at 37 degrees and walk back out into the night air like a new person.

Team Cold gets the worst part over with. Plunge first, sauna second, finish warm. That crowd swears they sleep better for it.

Both sides are certain. Both sides are loud. We have watched this argument start on our showroom floor between two people who drove here in the same car.

All three are set up in Rehoboth. Saratoga hot tub, Sunlighten infrared sauna, Therafrost cold plunge. You can stand next to all three in twenty minutes and settle it with your own body.

Comment HOT or COLD. Tag the one who is wrong. Loser hauls the beach chairs Saturday.

Sunrise soak or sunset soak?

Ocean side, the sun comes up over the water and the tub hits 102 before your coffee does. Bay side, Dewey gets the good sunsets and the soak runs late.

We've been on Coastal Highway since 1990 and this debate has never been settled once.

So settle it. Comment SUNRISE or SUNSET. Tag the person who always picks wrong.
