A regulated nervous system is the kindest thing you can offer your horse. As innate fight or flight animals, your stress is far more tangible to your horse than you may imagine.

Founded in 1999, Least Resistance Training Concepts (LRTC) is an all-volunteer, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides urgent and emergency technical large animal rescue services throughout northwestern Nevada.

Surprise! I had a baby. 🐣

For those of you wondering: yes, I have been suspiciously quiet. No, I was not on an extended Hawaiian vacation. No, I did not fall off. I was growing a human, and I kept it to myself because it honestly felt like the most me thing I could do.

I spend my days helping nervous systems performing under pressure to just rest and regulate stress patterns. Turns out I needed a reminder too - so I also took one. You’re welcome, tiny human.

Now that the cat is out of the bag (my horses and dogs knew, obviously), here’s what’s happening with High Sierra Fieldworks while I’m on leave:

🐴🧲 Established clients: equipment rental with customized programs is still available. Reach out directly.

🧲 Remote consultation and support sessions are open and bookable. Horse wellness plans, performance support, or if you’re an equestrian who is absolutely running on cortisol fumes and ready to do something about it, I am here for that conversation. Link in bio.

🧲Need hands-on support in the meantime? I have trusted referrals ready. Just ask.

🧲New clients: I’m not scheduling new in-person sessions yet, but the waitlist is open now. When I return, availability will be limited and intentional, so if working together has been on your radar, get on my waitlist ASAP. Link in bio.

🧲What’s ahead? I’m bringing my neuroscience background fully into every session, building out a nervous system first approach that goes beyond PEMF to give horses, dogs, and humans exactly what they actually need. I’m also launching something new specifically for equestrians around stress, adrenal health, and sustainable performance. More coming soon.

Thirty plus years in the saddle, a career built around helping animals and people feel their best, and now one more tiny member of the herd. Life is good and I am grateful.

Waitlist and booking links are in my bio. I’ll see you all soon. 🤍

The current trajectory of equestrian sports is seeing increasingly limited options for brick-and-mortar shopping. Will the industry eventually go entirely online or will smaller mom and pop shops be able to hang on?

I don’t know about you all but online shopping is one of my absolute least favorite things to do. Trying to find equipment and apparel without being able to touch, try on, and compare products in real time is a huge challenge. Frankly, it can even be demoralizing when everything you order online doesn’t work out.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on this!

After seven locations announced closures earlier this week, Dover Saddlery retail stores across the country have alerted customers that they are shutting their doors. Read more at the link in comments.

This is a very interesting article - and important conversation to have! How confident are you in finding lameness in horses, especially your own?

New research reveals a surprising gap in horse owner awareness. A study presented at our 2026 conference found that most horse owners struggle to identify hindlimb and bilateral lameness — and are more confident than their results suggest.

MagnaCon is coming up next month!!

While I wish I could attend in person, I’ll be in attendance with my virtual ticket, notepad, and pen! In a world that changes every day, staying educated on the current state of wellness is something I don’t take lightly.

If you’re interested in staying up to date with all things wellness, namely PEMF, alternative modalities, physical/mental health, etc which applies to animals and humans alike, click on the link below to secure your admission and join me!

This Gentle Giant appreciates his TLC!

Solo is a big warmblood, he’s over 18h tall!

Prioritizing movement, strength, and stability is super important for these big horses. They are masters of developing compensatory patterns to make up for their weaknesses. These patterns lead to tension in the body and can de-regulate normal nervous system processing.

Ridden work may present additional challenges maintaining for proper balance, especially if they are not well balanced on their own.

Promoting a happy, healthy horse involves a whole-body approach. You can’t forget to include the mind-body connection!

For those who missed the live presentation last week, here is the recording of Tick Talk.

While much is known about ticks, regional changes are important to track. General information on ticks, specifics on the most common ticks in Northern Nevada, and recommended guidelines for prevention/actions to take gathered from interviews with the NV State Entomologist and local veterinarians is included.

If you are interested in doing a deeper dive on any of the resources I used in the presentation, I can provide you with all links. Please submit any other questions to my email address: [email protected].

An awesome opportunity to get up close and personal with the equine distal limb!

Join me this Thursday, April 9, for an online discussion/presentation on a topic that REALLY sucks … ticks! (Zoom info below)

Ticks have been in the Northern NV region for a long time, however, this spring we’ve seen ticks in places we generally have not had to deal with them before. I’ll be presenting on the most common types of ticks we have, what to look for, and what we can do for means of prevention and mitigation. Included in this presentation will be information I’ve gathered from the NV State Entomologist and our wonderful local veterinarians.

If you have any specific questions you would like to have addressed, please send them to me via DM or to my email at [email protected].

See you Thursday!
