We are so proud of Jairis and Quentin for completing their Cristo Rey Richmond High School Work Study Program! Throughout the school year at Lakewood, they explored healthcare, communications, maintenance, and more — gaining hands-on experience, overcoming challenges, and discovering skills they’ll carry into their future careers.

We were so lucky to have them and loved hearing about their memorable moments and growth during their final presentations. Wishing them all the best in what’s ahead! 👏🎉

At Lakewood, Memorial Day is a time to come together in community and reflect on the true meaning of the day.

We pause to honor the men and women who gave their lives for the freedoms we enjoy, and we stand with those in our community who remember their fellow service members and carry forward their legacy.

We remember their sacrifice, and give thanks for our country and our community.

Today we honored our volunteers for their service in 2025 at our annual Volunteer Luncheon. 💙

Each volunteer was recognized with a small gift, and we enjoyed the beautiful music of a live harp player as a special touch of thanks.

We are so grateful for the time, compassion, and dedication our volunteers share with us every day—you make such a meaningful difference!

"You're never too old to make a difference."

Mary Kent's remark set the tone for a wonderful afternoon yesterday, as our 2026 Influencer Award and Volunteer Celebration honored Lakewood volunteers and Mary and Joe Kent as our 2026 Influencers.

Since moving to Lakewood, Mary and Joe have become woven into the fabric of our community through leadership, creativity, and service. From Mary’s vision to increase art programming and create the Lakewood Art Gallery to Joe’s longtime commitment to volunteering and cycling to raise awareness and funding for meaningful causes, their influence is felt every day.

Together, they remind us that staying engaged, giving back, and building meaningful connections do not stop with age. We are grateful for the many ways they continue to shape Lakewood into a vibrant, caring place to call home.

Thank you to ALL of our volunteers who make Lakewood thrive, and a special thanks to the VBH Foundation for coordinating the event and ColonialWebb, a CSUSA Company / Comfort Systems USA Shoffner for their sponsorship.
